As a little girl, I only ever saw people like me in books about Thanksgiving, written by white people.
This is how my bookstore, Paperbacks & Frybread came to be.
We launched online March of this year, vowing to help families of all kinds have easier access to THEIR stories and other #diverse & inclusive #reads.
It has been the most joy curating our selection and hearing feedback from people who didn’t realize there were #books and #authors with people just like them.

As people’s eyes are opened to lies of history (and current events) while deciding to make better decisions to support the humans that surround them: I hope I can play a small part in guiding people to better resources to serve this new found excursion.
I know the power of seeing yourself in a book, there’s nothing quite like it.
I also know the power of books to change people’s points of views.
I hope my suggestions bring more empathy and community. #bookstodon #diversebooks #books
