@thomasfuchs is that really true? What sources are you basing that statement on?

@boilingsteam @thomasfuchs which will run the foundation (they claim) for sixteen months. Decades would be an order of magnitude more. Where does that claim come from. Is it unreasonable to ask?!?

@boilingsteam @thomasfuchs go back to the OP. Call it a mental disorder if you like, I just can't stand people making unsubstantiated wild claims. Not that I'm perfect, but that's life 😆

@brrbrr @thomasfuchs where is the unsubstantiated claim? I just gave you the annual report screenshot.

@boilingsteam @thomasfuchs can you see the unsubstantiated claim?

@boilingsteam @brrbrr @thomasfuchs The claim being disputed is that there are “decades of runway”. You’ve shown their assets but haven’t shown how fast they burn through them. Wikipedia says they only have 16 months of operating funds (so it has been claimed in this thread).

@brrbrr @boilingsteam @thomasfuchs I’m not sure he’s correct but I think his reasoning is the final totals for the years shown imply a run rate of 10 million per year so in theory they have 240/10 or 24 years. I suspect there is nuance he is overlooking but I can’t be bothered to dig into their numbers. Still , I agree that 240 mill is rather a lot and the fundraising is disingenuous

@loredena @boilingsteam @thomasfuchs I don't understand. Their audited accounts show $145M expenses in 2022. Is the argument here "they could just sack everybody and leave the servers running for $3M a year"? Wikipedia is one of the greatest things to come out of the internet. Why begrudge them not only their success, but also their future? There seems to be a tiny Elon Musk in many people. "Sack them all!"
