I dislike the framing of climate tipping points, but it's good to keep in mind that there are components of the climate system that react nonlinearly to warming and will exacerbate climate change. We don't know the timing, but we know the only way to prevent disaster is to stop burning fossil fuels.
@davidho Indeed, it has always been stupid to burn fossil fuels, but it's egregiously stupid to do so in 2025.
@davidho what are your thoughts on the "planetary boundaries" framing? It's similar to tipping points but it also brings in the interconnectedness of different domains.

@davidho to stop fossil fuel usage lethal force is now authorized.
@davidho why do you dislike the tipping points framing?
@davidho
You said: “…but we know the only way to prevent disaster is to stop burning fossil fuels” & that “Agriculture is a tiny % of emissions and so getting all that to zero will have almost no effect.”!
I guess that means that https://eatforum.org/eat-lancet-commission/ , https://ourworldindata.org/food-emissions-carbon-budget , https://climatehealers.org/blog/an-amazing-update-on-the-climate-healers-position-paper/ and https://www.unep.org/resources/emissions-gap-report-2022 lied when they all claimed that GHG emissions from food alone could use up all of our budget.
No wonder people think that there is nothing that they can do.
