@hamatti believe it or not, I joined IRC for the first time a week ago and I can already say I've experienced what you're describing here and talking to new people online is such a joy. as you said it's not based on looks, only personality and morals.

PS: I know what you're thinking, no irc is not dead.

although I still long for interesting friends in real life, I've yet to meet someone IRL who has the same interests as me in tech (the IndieWeb, linux, etc..) and having that would be nice.
