Been having fun tweaking my HTML site on Neocities. Thinking I'll migrate Jason Journals there away from WordPress in 2024.
Just about purged almost all JS from the site, so just HTML and CSS.
@jasonmcfadden@mastodon.world have you considered using blot? I stopped blogging but use IA to write and do wikilinks between things. Really easy service to use. I sync the files with git and working copy
@mpmilestogo Yes, I've looked at Blot and really like how it works. I've not tried it though.
Sounds like one could use Obsidian to do like you are with wikilinks.
I'm happy with Neocities and plain ol' HTML for now. I can connect my site via webDAV to tools like Textastic or Brackets.
@jasonmcfadden@mastodon.world yep. I enjoy it. I could just change to obsidian and copy the files over to a vault. Have done so a few times but I guess I like the simplicity of IA. The iOS app for IA is a joy. I do a share of writing in coffee shops here on the iPhone.
@jasonmcfadden Cool project, Jason. I’ve thought about trying something similar just haven’t made the time yet.
@jasonmcfadden Just looking around over there, do they offer domains? No blogging? They mention using static site generators and then uploading. How would that work? Maybe I'm missing something. Or will you just update html to add new posts and update your archive manually?
@dennyhenke I do it manually. It’s not that much work. I like direct control and coding it myself. It’s free to start. I plan to pay like $5/mo to point my custom domain to it in the future.
I use Textastic on iPad and Brackets on Mac to code the same folder of html files in my iCloud Drive. Also later for that $5/mo I can connect it via webDAV.
