A dish that maybe @loren would love?

I call it “Earthworm in the garden.” (Southern live oak noodle) Quercus virginiana

In an effort to keep a composite noodle from breaking, I wound up with noodles that look like earthworms. Oops. 🥹🤣

In my defense, it ended up tasting pretty good.

The view looks down on a black plate with a turquoise center. A yellow border is in between the turquoise and black. On the plate are a bunch of nasturtium leaves, curled daylily leaves and redbud flowers artfully scattered. Coiled in the middle is a long brown noodle with its flat head sticking out. Two sesame seeds are placed on top with a forlorn expression. It expressed the extreme disappointment with the silly outcome of my noodle-making attempt. Noodle was made with wheat, southern live oak acorns and a bit of fermented soybean powder (to stabilize the acorn flavor). It tasted a bit like cookie dough (this acorn has a natural sweetness) and retained the nice acorn flavor (didn’t turn to cardboard from cooking too long). It was also nicely chewy. I made a vegan tonkatsu sauce that didn’t seem to have a place in the pic so it isn’t pictured.
