As someone who survived 8 winters in #Chicago, I mean this in the nicest way possible: the average IQ of Atlantans on the road drops 5-10 points when it snows.
@paninid Snowmageddon!
@paninid Genuinely concerned about the people standing in the street. It would be so easy to get smooshed by a sliding car. Get out of there!
Those are some of the heaviest, most expensive, and unmaneuverable sleds I’ve ever seen.
I think the people in the street are police officers preparing for the inevitable collisions and paperwork necessary for insurance claims.
Awh. The video ended. I was enjoying the ballet.
@paninid I was visiting Atlanta in 1993 from NJ when they got like four inches of snow. It was a days long fiasco. Cars just left everywhere, piled up at the bottom of hills, alongside the interstate, you name it. Only cars safely navigating were ours and one from Massachusetts. We spent a whole day watching people lose it on a hill near our friend’s place, like it was a drinking game.
@paninid not much IQ can do about having zero traction, this is why cities salt & sand so roads don’t do the melt/freeze thing
@paninid No snow day? South Carolina used to just shut everything down. As a displaced snow bunny with a Jeep, I would spend the day ferrying staff to the hospital.
