@signalapp This is awesome. Most Finns use WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger, but I’m doing my best to convince the people that I know here in Finland to switch to Signal. Kippis!

Unfortunately I've been experiencing a bug in Signal since a few days preventing me from messaging a new contact. The app displays a captcha before I can send a message, but after I successfully complete the captcha, the app just shows me a brief error message which says "failed to submit" and the message which I tried to send is left in "pending" state and does not get sent.
The app doesn't indicate any reason for the failure and any attempt to send another message results in the same error. Therefore the message sending functionality is essentially broken. Will this bug be fixed soon?

I use Signal daily and haven't had this bug. I wonder if my friend who I blocked gets that message?
I blocked her because she sent too many voice messages a few years ago.
I don't know if people you block see this message or not. At least in my case my contact has definitely not blocked me, since they don't even have my number yet to block, because the Signal app prevented me from sending them a first message. My contact also told me to send them a message, which is not what you would expect someone to say if they want to block you.
As for friends who send too many messages, it's important to respect boundaries but personally I see blocking as a last resort. Sometimes simply explaining your situation to a friend and asking them to be mindful about how often they send you messages can help to preserve or strengthen a friendship, but we all have different strategies for dealing with this.

@signalapp I wish Signal was more popular in Switzerland, I would love to abandon Whatsapp. I have wanted to dump it since FB bought it.

@nemeciii "I host my own" is the point here. You have deep knowledge and you can help people get things done. Miss Schmidt, 72 doesnt have anyone like you. It's horror for her to even find it in an appstore, let alone to get an app to start.
For signal, you install & start signal.
For matrix.. well thats element, or fluffy chat, or or or or..
Now the first login… signal is essentially a few clicks and you're in with almost full automatism. Matrix.. ohh boy, asks what login you wanna use.

The point is to actually use either, not which one you go for. That's what there is to get.
I also prefer Matrix, but the benefit for many ppl when it comes to Signal is that it's already very popular (just not evenly spread so) and it's based on phone numbers which is easier to get than server address system.
Matrix is proper autonomy and well developed already, but it's more work getting ppl to use it, and setting up a server is definitely laborious
@amici @harmonicarichard @signalapp converted ~70 people to signal because I created IRL Brazilian dance events, and I published the infos on a signal group. In less than 6 months.

@signalapp I love Signal, but I miss having an official version on Flatpak. With Flatpak, updates would be easier and installation would be more secure. Please consider this option for the Linux community! #Signal #Flatpak #Linux
