Pierre Poilievre spent all his time as the Leader of the Official Opposition WITHOUT A SECURITY CLEARANCE.

Why? What was he afraid of? He had a proper security clearance when he served in Stephen Harper's cabinet for 10+ years.

I wonder what changed... or what he could be hiding.

@somecanuckchick he's not qualified to scrub my toliet then

@somecanuckchick

Wait, this lying gaslighting fascist DID AT ONE POINT ACTUALLY HAVE A CLEARANCE, THEN HE NO LONGER DOES?

How THE FUCK does that happen?

How is the party letting #neverpoilievre lead them?

Are they that stupid?

@Maxfieldripken @somecanuckchick
Security clearances expire and need to be renewed. I recently had to do so for the (very low level) clearance I hold for my work.

@Maxfieldripken @somecanuckchick First...yes, they are that stupid. Second...Poilievre did have a security clearance as a cabinet minister (under Harper) and as a member of the Privy Council. TS clearances have to be renewed every 5 years, and expire if they are not. As Leader of the Opposition, there is absolutely no legitimate reason he should not have applied to have it renewed...unless there are things that have happened since his last clearance that would be difficult to explain. Like the source of his significant personal fortune, which he didn't inherit and certainly didn't earn. And his connections to international fascism, courtesy of Harper's IDU. #cdnpoli #PoilievreIsAForeignAsset #NeverVoteConservative

@Maxfieldripken Yes, security clearances must be updated, as things in one's life change... promotions, for instance, like becoming the Leader of the Opposition is a promotion. But, Pierre Poilievre didn't fill out the application for a security clearance update when he became the Leader of the Opposition... he likes the perks, though... Stornoway, chef, chauffeur, entertainment budget, travel, etc., but doesn't want to be briefed about the goings-on in Canada as the Leader of the Opposition.

@somecanuckchick It's an attempt to end-run around the principle that cabinet members need vetting:
"If I can get elected without one, why would anyone under me need one?"

I suspect the problem could only be fixed at a constitutional level, much like customs and norms do not protect human rights as well as well-crafted legislation.

@somecanuckchick Any real leader would know very well that you NEVER have 100% freedom in saying whatever you want as the leader of a country. What you say can affect the economy and stock markets, it can affect current diplomatic negotiation, etc.

Yes, being the leader of a country comes with responsibilities!

By refusing to have his security clearance and claiming it would censor him, PP is EXACTLY playing Trump's "freedumb" playbook!

Let's be honest: Poilievre is anti-Canada!

@somecanuckchick He would be bound by ethics if he received the briefings. Now he just lies and spins tales. #cdnpoli

@somecanuckchick
The narrative we need to put forward is ...
Why are the members of conservative party allowing their leader to be the only party leader without a voluntary security clearance?
Skip pass him and start pointing fingers at the members that allow it to happen.
Because I'm sure once we start making others accountable, many will come forward, saying they don't agree with their party leader.
