Off the Record

As a kid, I found this image super fascinating. At some point, maybe around 12-13, I got a camera for a birthday or so. This was probably the first image I tried to re-create using a very cheap, fixed-focus camera shooting on 110-film. Imagine my disappointment when the prints came back from processing.

Based on the original artwork by the UK artist Terry Pastor.

Having always been the guy behind the camera, I have now stepped IN FRONT of the wretched thing. My big project for 2025 is to start learning how to tell stories with video. Here's my first attempt, taking its start in complex math established in 1905, the evolution of its practical application into stuff we use every day on our computers. Be warned, it's about 10m 30s long.

Can I flip an object in relation to an anchor point in #affinitydesigner ? I use this a ridiculous amount in Illustrator and I am mad.

The cover for Lou Reed’s second, and possibly most well known album, Transformer, from 1972. It was produced by David Bowie and Mick Ronson.

Notably Walk on the Wild Side was on here, as was Perfect Day.

Re-created using Affinity Designer on iPad.

It took several tries, but I finally stumbled upon a way to keep text in a .SVG file from falling apart when exporting from Affinity Designer.

Selecting "Export to curves" in the dialog box keeps the original font and spacing. Anyway, now to see if my wife can print my design on her Cricut. #AffinityDesigner
