I finally got around and designed a custom panel to hide this eyesore. The panel of the lamp alone was too small to cover the damage. I’m happy how it turned out.

Ran some photos of wood grain through DrawingBotV3, exported to Inkscape, exported to CAD, whittled down to some freeform organic shapes, cropped out some circles and changed layers, exported back to Inkscape, and finally plotted.

In addition to pen plotting and printmaking, I do a fair amount of woodworking. With a background and day job in architecture most of my work starts in CAD. Planning on making a couple of furniture pieces which incorporate some of my print designs; probably through wood inlays. Here's a quick sample made with my Shaper Origin CNC router and honestly just these routed out dots look good to me.
