After watching The Bear I do prefer to eat in places where the staff are happy and not one dropped plate away from a panic attack.

In 1991 there was a cladding fire in #Liverpool and this provided the necessity to make regulatory reforms, but the then Tory government did not act.
On 3 July 2009 a fire in Lakanal House, a tower block in #Camberwell, London, killed Six people and injured at least 20. Yet government embarked upon a deregulation drive presented as a “bonfire of red tape” which saw crucial safety matters “ignored, delayed or disregarded”.

The love that dare not speak its name!
A plaque commemorates two men who "lived in a course of uninterrupted friendship for 60 years..." on the north wall of the sanctuary in St Stephen's Church, Canterbury.
The two Williams met when they were aged 16 and 20.
Parks, food, Walworth & inclusion...just a few of my favourite things. Covered here by one of my favourite writers Jonathan Nunn. I'm not sure Southwark Council's reasoning for keeping the BBQs closed, but we need better models of park management. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/jun/17/extraordinary-barbecues-council-shut-them-down-london-burgess-park?fbclid=PAAaZsJH-hvQB096x3TN6SgMesWb_JFc63pRsdLtrSChTEuA7wf5hn2gsaOkk&utm_source=pocket_saves
Here's a #postcard of the Camberwell College of Art, part of the University of the Arts, London. Like many art schools, it had its origins in colleges of arts and crafts, aimed at training people for trades. Hence the 'Polytechnic' label on the card
It taught fine arts from the 1920s; in 1986 it became part of the London Institute, which in turn became University of the Arts London in 2004.
#Azalea’s everywhere!!!
Vibrant pink this time. Or are they violet?

Meet a beautiful-blooming #CamelliaSasanqua!!
It’s most common name is sasanqua #camellia and this species of Camellia is native to China and Japan.
Most species of camellias require a large amount of water, so with the steady rainfall of late (and relative mild summer) it’s no wonder these are blooming in abundance.
Did you know?
There are over 250 known species to the genus Camellia

Take a moment to enjoy this unusually twisted and very big London Plane in #camberwell #southlondon #treesofmastdon
The trusty ID app tells me this is a #CotinusCoggygria, the European smoketree, Eurasian smoketree, smoke tree, smoke bush, Venetian sumach, or dyer's sumach… so many names!!
It’s from the family Anacardiaceae.
This unique tree is native to a large area from southern Europe, east across central Asia and the Himalayas to northern China.
And yes, those hair-like structures are giving, but somehow coarse and sturdy at the same time. Haha. That’s the only way I can explain it.
Perhaps what I think, a tumble weed would feel like
Anyways, the diversity of flora in our world is just astounding, don’t you think?
This gorgeous deep pink #crepemyrtle was amongst over half a dozen displaying nicely in #Camberwell #Australia recently.
So colourful. So lush.
A brief clip of Saturday’s gig in Camberwell. #poetry #spokenword #music #6music #livemusic #london #camberwell #yorkshire

#skyblueclustervine have been flowering profusely and for some weeks may I add, in Melbs the past couple of months.
They’re so resilient and generous in their display period, that it seems they’re everywhere around the suburban streets here.. like… all the time!!
I really like that they’re a simple flower, subtle in colour and size - and the greenery that accompanies them sets the purples (in this case) off just perfectly.
Also, had a little multi-legged critter tagging along for a photo bomb!
Such is #Melbourne’s weather, ‘four seasons in one day, raining, drizzly in the morning, blue skies, sun and glorious this arvo.
The sight of this #crepemyrtle warranted a stop off and snapping.
It’s just gorgeous.
This is in its flowering prime and was surrounded by about 8 others of the same size and colour, at a care facility in #Camberwell #Australia.
Bursting with goodness and colour - OMG!!
Podranea ricasoliana, called the #pinktrumpetvine, is a flowering plant in the genus Podranea, native to South Africa, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia.
I love the subtle whites and pinks, as well as the visible vein-like appearance in the centre of its ‘trumpet’ section, within its flowering head.
Its leaves are so healthy and vibrant too.
Delicate. Pretty.
