Shop keeper Phyllis used her computer system to automate book keeping, taking the time to prepare from five hours to five minutes.

Having learned the system down to hardware level, Phyllis is now building an electronics kit. Her aim? Build a computer herself; Or as we called it an “electronic gadget”.

What Phyllis doesn’t say is she was a maths graduate from University and “#Cypher Clerk” in “Hut 5” at #BletchleyPark during the war.

The”Official Secrets Act” was in force in 1983 😂🤣☺️

Back on the A2000, co-processor slot is still acting weird. It works in diagrom, but with a kickstart rom it doesn't boot. If i remove the cpu, it does boot with a pistorm. but not with my gvp. I think sme of the control lines to the co-processor slot are broken. Now to find out which one. Suggestions are welcome.

It's FOSS News · Commodore is Back from the Dead!80s called, and they want you to know that you can pre-order the latest version of the Commodore.

There's been a flurry of coverage over the last week or two about the "reborn" Commodore 64 home computer. A company bought the name (and other IP rights) and is issuing a claimed fully-compatible update of the classic machine.

You can argue about how faithful a reproduction it is; it's not using the original 6510 CPU and other support chips, but rather is done on an FPGA. They claim it's not emulation, but arguably it is - it's being emulated in hardware, rather than in software.

But the funniest thing to me is that 43 years after the introduction of the C64, with the way computing prices have plummeted for that whole stretch, the base model of the new one is more expensive than the original was. It's US $349, while the C64's price quickly dropped to $199 after its introduction.

Yes, I know about inflation and the rest. I still find it funny.

Now that there's a new #commodore, I hope they're able to hunt down the C64 on a chip that Radioshack was selling back in the height of the plug and play famiclone era and make it available to the public as an SBC.

There's absolutely no reason to want such a thing, but I'd give good money (more than $20!) for a steady supply.
