I'm a former worker for one of the major electric power utilities in the Pacific Northwest. If that company lost 20% of its workers all at once, there sure as hell would be an effect on its ability to provide reliable service and to maintan its part of the grid.

But Trump and Musk don't care about small details like this.

Part of our energy problem here in the US: you could toast a slice of bread over a small burning stick. Given there's a healthy enough forest nearby, these regenerate and you'd effectively never run out. However, most of us have an appliance that uses so much electric power it'd take an Olympic athlete feverishly running a manual generator for the duration of the toasting process to generate it. We're needlessly substituting an elite energy slave for a stick when we make toast because we can and because the structure of things encourages it.

I provided engineering guidance in similar termination installation (without the rain/drip things on each cable) for medium voltage motor leas terminations.

At medium and high voltages, those shields and the semiconducting layers help ensure even electrical pressure on the insulation. You need to strip back the layers according to the instructions. Took awhile but I’m confident our team did a good job.
