I did not remember either (a) Gary Cole (as Bill Lumberg) was in suspenders in that scene or (b) that I had the slide in the earlier #FOSDEM version of the talk until this morning.

I did indeed at that point wonder of someone would connect all that with this fedi thread.
@joeyh wins the prize.

The prize is $0b10. (Cf my morning joke).

I gave a last minute talk in @karen's #FOSSY25 slot as she was unable to attend. I reprised (w/ 20% new content) my talk from #FOSDEM Legal & Policy DevRoom, “Is there really an SBOM Mandate?”

A few were sad this meant my
“Everything I Need to Know about FOSS Politics I Learned from Poker” talk has now been reschedule for #FOSSY 2026.

This was b/c that talk wasn't ready for today's slot & b/c we have a “one track talk per speaker” rule.

I promise everyone it'll be worth the one year wait!

@Edent so sorry to hear there's spam on matrix. it's been safe so far for me since 2019. i've enjoyed using it to tempt loved ones towards the idea of respectful technology, and found it useful at #fosdem when one of our speakers left their spectacles in a devroom; the next session used our matrix area to contact us and reunite said glasses with their eyes. i really like it for voice and video calls, and not sure what else to use? for chat @delta is v nice.

It's never too early to start thinking about #FOSDEM! @bkuhn @karen @lexelas @richardfontana @tmarble and I would like to submit a proposal for the "#Legal and #Policy Devroom" to @fosdem as soon as they open the CfP. Like last year we would like get feedback by you, our community:

* What did you especially like in 2025 fosdem.org/2025/schedule/track ?

* What would you like to see improved?

* What topics would you like to see in our devroom (permitted that we would be accepted again)?

I haven't given up on the idea yet of trying to propose a music-related #devroom at the next #fosdem in 2026. I'm wondering what name could be used, though? Just "Music production" may be limiting, as that would cover, e.g., projects like Ardour or DrumGizmo, but not the likes of Faircamp, which helps musicians self-host their work. Finding the right scope (and abstract) for such a devroom might be challenging, but not impossible IMO. Any feedback/idea?
