Dear #Fediverse (if anyone is reading): Do you have any resources or useful tools to manage accounts and instance-federation more effectively? I want to have an easier time, logging events, reviewing moderation decisions etc.
Although, I don't *need* improvement for now, I can imagine, how much this will become relevant, if an instance starts to grow to a certain size.

New release of #Fediwall suports fedi.buzz as a source and is nicer to unresponsive or overloaded source servers. The update also contains security patches in dependencies, but those issues did not impact fediwall, so no urgency for an update.

GoToSocial, for example, is a very secure, privacy-minded alternative and can run without complications in a very cheap VPS with only 512 MB of RAM and a database file (SQLite).

Worüber können eure Account-Nutzer*innen bezahlen?
Habt ihr eure Instanz auf ein Maximum an möglichen Konten eingestellt?
Decken die darüber generierten Einnahmen die Ausgaben, die ihr für das Hosting habt?

Und ergänzend, falls ihr damit selbstständig seid:
Reichen die Einnahmen auch aus, um euren Lebensunterhalt zu sichern?
Oder bietet ihr dafür weitere Leistungen an (die nicht unbedingt etwas mit dem FediVerse zu tun haben müssen)?

Mastdon에 WEB_DOMAIN 추가하여 서비스 서브 도메인을 바꾸면?

Is there, like, an auth_fetch readiness check tool that can be given the right permissions to do an API check of a list of known federation servers, and ask those servers if it's ready and using auth_fetch itself?

This could be a long running python script to gradually go through a large list like that, or a GitHub action? Is this even necessary at this point?

We've identified an issue (thanks to @FediVideo) impacting playback on our Peertube instance.

The issue appears to related to the caching mechanic in nginx.

We've disabled caching at the moment while we further investigate how to fix it, which has resolved the playback issues for the moment.

Wir hosten ja (bekanntlich?) auch https://feddit.org, die größte Lemmy Instanz im DACH-Raum. Da gab es in letzter Zeit leider ein paar Ausfälle.

Auslöser: unterm Strich wieder AI/LLM scraper bots.

MMn Ein weiteres Signal dafür, dass diesem Unwesen endlich Grenzen gesetzt werden müssen. Es wird langsam unmöglich, öffentlich zugängliche Webservices zu betreiben, da die scraper so zahlreich und aggressiv sind und laufend für hohe Serverlast und downtimes verantwortlich sind.

Was das global gesehen zusätzlich für einen vollkommen sinnlosen Energieverbrauch bedeutet möchte ich gar nicht wissen .

suigow.xyz upgraded from #GoToSocial v0.19.0 to v0.19.1. That was easy peasy.

Our Mastodon services have been upgraded to Mastodon (glitch-soc) v4.3.8.

This is a fairly minor release with a bug fix or two and some small security changes. https://github.com/glitch-soc/mastodon/releases/tag/v4.3.8

PVT has been passed with no issues, but we will keep an eye on the instance over the coming hours to ensure there are no unexpected impacts.
