Moin,

Ich will hier einige Regalmeter loswerden. Es sind 0 wertvolle Schinken darunter. Es sind viele Bildbände, Bücher über Hobbykram, Kochbücher, Ratgeber. Also nix zum Angeben oder Geldanlegen. #fedihelp #lesen #secondhand #verkaufen

EDIT: 🙏❣️ Favorit Stand jetzt: Momox

#fedihelp I am looking for an android calendar app - preferably #openSource - which allows similar multi-account handling to how google does it (mainly being to see and manage all appointments from all accounts without the need to share calendars). This is important because I need a central source of truth, but also have client calendars which I can't just sync to my private account and don't want to merge private and work stuff.
Is thunderbird good for this? Other recommendations?

Ok, on to happier matters.

You may recall that I purchased a poor bedraggled plant from the clearance section at my local supermarket because I wanted to save it from the dumpster. It had two sad flowers which had grown kind of sideways, and it looked like it needed a bit of TLC. No label, so I had no idea what kind of flower it was. And I have historically not been a good keeper of plants. But it cost a dollar, and I figured I'd bring it home and at least let it live out whatever life I could give it, rather than it being consigned to the garbage as it doubtless would have been. I have no pictures of it from this period unfortunately.

He was christened Robert by my spouse as a joke, and I tried to remember to water him, and he lived on my porch through the summer. He got plenty of sun and rain, and at a certain point I also set myself a reminder to water him, and he seemed to be doing so well that I hazarded transferring him from his tiny pot into a larger one, and instead of dying, Robert throve like a champion. His flowers died, but he put out a bunch of new leaves and filled in his new pot. That's the first picture.

As with most flowers, I assumed that Robert was an annual, so I debated what to do as cooler weather set in, but in the end, I brought him into our back room which, while not quite as nice and sunny, gets a decent sun level and isn't freezing. I kept watering Robert through the end of the autumn, and while he seemed to have slowed down a little, he didn't immediately die, so as winter took hold I decreased my watering regimen a little but otherwise kept to the status quo.

At Christmas, my spouse did a show wherein they were given a plant by a castmate named Sean, so Robert, still chipper if with perhaps more dead leaves, was joined by Sean the plant in the back room. I kept watering, fully expecting Robert to eventually give up the ghost. After all, he's an annual. They only live for a year. Surely they know that.

Spring has pretty much set in at this point. Sean is doing fine, and as soon as the weather settles down he will be moved to a larger pot and possibly put outside. And Robert... About a month ago, Robert seems to have woken up again, because he put out a bunch of new leaves. And last week, I thought I saw something which looked like a bud. Sure enough, a few days ago when I came in to water him, the second picture greeted me.

Yes, Robert has blossomed anew. And he's going outside again as soon as it seems safe to do so. Maybe by May. So that'll be nice. Hooray for Robert and my ability to keep from killing him!

Now, my question: I know bupkis about plants. I believe Robert to be a gerbera daisy, as that's what his flower and leaves resemble to me. But my spouse insists that the flowers are too small and the leaves aren't right. Can anyone help? I can take better pictures if necessary.

Also, if I wanted to feed him, any suggestions? He's been making do with tap water and hand-me-down soil for almost a year now, and I wonder if maybe he'd like a bit of nutrition.

Okay, help me decide: Self-hosted Mastodon or GoToSocial? What's the pros and cons of each?

Recently, I set up a VPS running YunoHost.

I've been meaning to set up a personal single-user Fedi instance on it, but life's gotten in the way a bit.

I strongly considered Friendica, but it's not there in terms of UX.

So I've narrowed it down to GtS or Masto.

My understanding is that GtS is far more lightweight, but misses some key features. Masto is more resource hungry.

Will I need a relay server for a single-user instance?

Any other key things I should be aware of before diving in?

Ahoi,
#Linux Noob verzweifelt gerade.

Any ideas?

I am looking for a 3D terrain model (ideally with Satellite imagery texture) of #Sussex in England. It needs to cover the area from #Battle in the East, across to #Chichester in the West - and I'll be using it once in a presentation of less than 5 mins, for personal use.

Poly count doesn't really matter, so long as there's _some_ definition, would be nice if the South coast of England was identifiable.

#FediHelp #BoostsWelcomeForReach

Any ideas where I can find such a thing??

im having a senior moment... and it seems like the post i bookmarked to help me with this was deleted 👴

does anyone know how to search for a bsky post on fedi to boost it over here? i know there's a way to load old posts manually before the person bridged, but i cant remember what i needed to add to the link to force it to load on fedi

edit: solved! add "bsky.brid.gy/r/" before the url

I'm so excited!

With the #fedihelp of @RueNahcMohr @kallemp @kevinevans I was able to repair the display in my #Ensoniq #ESQ1 #Synthesizer.

One of the TL4810AN display driver chips was defective. Ebay suggested me an UCN5810AF as an alternative. I checked data sheets and it seemed to match. The UNC was available in Germany, while TL replacements I had ordered are still stuck somewhere in China.

The grain of salt is that after putting together the entire thing, I noticed that one key still is not acting properly. I have to take apart pretty much everything for that at some point…

I also put in new firmware chips I got from Italy via Ebay, now the thing is on version 3.5. Luckily it loads the factory preset if it runs out of battery power, which it did, because I replaced the battery, too.

I found this cartridge that has a little dial and actually is 16 cartridges in one unit… Ebay from the Netherlands. (Imagine not living in the EU… horrible thought.)

So many fancy new vintage sounds!

So, the phrase "we are so fucked" has been bandied around a lot lately but for me it just got worse. Numerous legal issues have arisen and to sort them out (not to mention get my tax return done) I need a more stable and faster internet connection, which my mobile internet isn't when its paltry 5GB allowance is drained like it is now.

Can #fedihelp #mutualaid stretch to helping me upgrade my data plan for tackling these and other things without waiting forever for my browser to just time out? I really don't want to end up in jail or fined over a late tax return and a misunderstood insurance policy.

Oddly, Fedi usually works okay but websites really struggle on the throttled connection due to scripts.

Are there people here who have experience with setting up a Hackintosh? :silver_sweetsapplepie:
Or maybe know of some useful online resources for it?
I'm trying to flee Windows but Linux doesn't work for me (pls don't argue with me about this :silvervale_prays: ).
I have a Mac sitting next to my PC but it is getting old and it's starting to show. And I really don't want to buy a new Mac.

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated. 🧡 I admit, I'm a bit stumped about where to start.

(Boosts also obvs very welcome :boost_request: )
