i'm not sure what this means for the future of exposur.es—including whether i have it in me to start over again on @bonfire, even though i'm confident in the people behind the project and their principles—though, i can't help but take it as a sign that i need to re-evaluate my relationship to social media and the web, and whether or not i want to be a part of it at all.

if i could make a recommendation to anyone considering setting up a Fediverse instance like Pixelfed, it would be to avoid @knt at all costs.

my account associated with @mgmt was behind on payments for no more than a full billing cycle and, without advance notice, warning, or a chance to make a backup, my entire instance was terminated.

as if the deletion of the data—including every person i've ever connected with on the Fediverse—wasn't enough of a punch to the gut, i now have to live with the knowledge that, because i chose to do business with K&T, innumerable hours and more sleepless nights spent troubleshooting shitty software than I'd like to admit were also lost and wasted.

i poured months into keeping it going and i'll never get them back.

Did you know that you can hide boosts from people? If your client doesn't support this, pester the devs until they either build it in or quit creating the client. The second one is more likely so meh. Anyway, it's really useful.

Mastodon works on boosts. If you see something cool, you boost it. There are no "posts you may like" mechanisms on Mastodon. There are no algorithms. So, if you want people to see something, you *have* to boost. If some one boosts too much, though, you can hide those boosts, especially if you already follow the source they boost from.

Do you want to keep your Mastodon profile and posts hidden from search engines? If so, you need to do two things:

1. Set your profile to be hidden from search engines
2. Use non-public visibility settings ("Followers only" or "Mentions only") on any posts or replies you want to keep hidden from search engines

See the guide for more info:

Also see the guide to post visibilities for more on how to adjust their settings:

Now in English...

Hello cuties, I am currently finishing my bachelor's degree, and I started to look because I am interested in pursuing a master's (or any other postgraduate, really).

I am looking for it to last no more than a year and to include the option to apply for funding or grants, as I do not have a lot of money.
About the topics, I am into critical theory, feminist and queer studies, political sciences, digital sociology...
If there is an option to study online, that will be super great!! because currently I'm living in the UK, and I would like to stay here longer. I mean, if I study in the UK, I could move, but I am not looking to move to another country.
About language, I speak Spanish and English, so I do not mind if there is anything cool in Mexico or NZ, for example.

pls if you have any cool ideas about it, let me know!!

The FediAlgo hashtag filter section now highlights any hashtags you've posted about recently.

Interestingly the most I've used the app the more I've found feed filtering gets a ton of mileage for me. It's a huge change of pace to be able to instantly flip between whatever people are talking about on the Fediverse. Not really something you can do on any other social media platform I'm aware of.
