Underrated beauty, Gloria Swanson
Underrated beauty, Gloria Swanson
One of my obsessions, antique pillows, mainly #flapper era 1910s through the #1920s
It was a colorful period, lots of details, artistic and inventive. A combination of fabrics and materials we don't see in modern products. Labor intensive DIY items, beautiful and intricate.
Lots of ribbonwork, velvet, metallic lace, tassels, satins and silk embroidery. Often people just used whatever they had at hand and turned it into something magical.

#Alicewhite belonged in front of the camera. But her training stayed with her. On her film sets it was not unusual for Alice to remind another actor that a drink had been in their right hand in the wide shot-- not the left, plus their jacket was open-- not buttoned. Valuable film skills!
ALICE WHITE was a competitor of Clara Bow.
She played modern "flaming flappers" of the 1920s.
Alice began as a script girl to director's Charles Chaplin and Erich Von Stroheim. Her acting career spanned the silent and sound eras.

Alright, time for a clearing out of the last few images. I'm still playing with some idea, but this was a fun wiki dive turned art project.
I also wanted to try and get something that looked... real in a different way. Where the others are more vintage and found photos, I wanted to see if CoPilot could make a realistic image.
It happily delivered.
Naturally my thought process went to the glamour of 1920's flappers and speakeasies, and I wondered, "What would a Cleopatra from this time look like?"
I was really happy with how "real" I could make these "fakes" be.
So lately I've been fascinated with some styles in America. I stumbled upon the Egyptian Revival style.

OK, so one, Egypt is cool. Like, just impressively amazing.
So, when I saw the 1920's had a huge interest in it in America I thought, "Let's blend them!"

I’ve created a new series titled Glamour Girls of the Twenties that showcases the flappers and glamorous ladies of the Roaring 20’s, also known as the Jazz Age. It was a decade of flappers, bootleggers, bathtub gin, raccoon coats, prosperity and good times. I hope you enjoy these ladies as much as I enjoyed creating them.
