It's quite the nice sunny day outside, the flowers sure seem to like it.

I had enough time to grab the SLR and take some proper photos.

Photo of two tulips. The main focus is on a tulip near the center which is a dark purple. The photo is taken from the left side of the flower, so it is facing off to the front right. Its petals are open wide, exposing a bright yellow pistil surrounded by six purple anthers at the tip of the stamens.

The other tulip is shades of orange ranging from dark to light, and its petals are open almost as wide, but it is facing to the side and its inside is not visible.

It's quite the Affaire.

A photo showing several white with pink highlights tulips. They are called Affaire. The base color of each petal is white and the sides of the petals are patterned with pink in a nectar guide sort of way. There's one that's mostly void of the pink markings in the upper right. Lots of green foliage beneath them.

#FirstFlowers of the year have arrived: Aspens Populus tremuloides are starting to fully open their catkins (willows are just behind, first few open). They may be tiny, but there are millions! Officially wind pollinated, but they do draw insects.

Looking up at a strip of mixed woods, with many aspens in front. The row extends from right to left, seen at an angle so it goes to upper right and beyond, closest, and lower on the left as it recedes. The pale trunks and branches of the aspens, shaded dark in places and with dark markings, bear masses of silvery fuzzy catkins at their twig tips, with darker mixed woods behind and blue sky above and to the left.

A shadowed knobby twig rises in the centre, with numerous dangling catkins in various stages. Emerging from shiny brown bud cases, they start as silver brushes, extending to silver/pewter dangling caterpillars with red buds showing through the hairs, then extending further and paling as the reddish tiny buds open to show miniscule golden flowers casting their pollen to wind. Tangled pale branches in the background allow glimpses of the blue sky beyond.

One Queen of Night tulip finally decided it was time to open up. Two more buds are still working their way up. I really like them, but they are rather inconsistent for whatever reason.

My yellow peacock plant is blooming again. This is one of the few that I transferred directly to soil, and the height difference compared to those in pots is significant.

And just yesterday, I got new seed pods from a fully orange variety which I'll sow first thing tomorrow.

Gestern Abend im Garten noch diesen Dolden-Milchstern entdeckt, der gerade im Kommen ist.

Die Blüten schließen sich abends und gehen bei Sonnenschein wieder auf.

Auf Englisch heißt die Pflanze auch "garden star-of-Bethlehem", "grass lily", "nap-at-noon", oder "eleven-o'clock lady".

Dolden-Milchstern-Pflanze im Gras, sie hat zwei halb geöffnete weiße Blütenblätter mit 6 spitz zulaufenden sternförmig angeordneten Blütenblättern, diese haben außen einen grünen Streifen. An der Dolde sind noch mehrere Blütenknospen, die noch gar nicht geöffnet sind.

Als ich gestern Abend unter den beiden blühenden Kirschbäumen stand, klang es so, als würde sich ein großer mehrstimmiger Chor einsingen, weil die vielen Hummeln alle so laut und vielstimmig gesummt haben.
