Tuli tänään pitkästä aikaa käytyä elokuvissa. Oscarilla ja Golden Globella palkittu latvialaisanimaatio Flow oli melkoinen kokemus. Epätäydellisyydestään huolimatta elokuva lunasti lupaukset ja monilla tavoin ylittikin ne.

If you guys get a chance to watch this, don't miss it. #AcademyAward winning film about a cat and a group of animals trying to survive a post apocalyptic world. It's the absolute opposite of the #Disney #Pixar nonsense that is fed to kids but it's perfect for adults as well. My kids were thrown from one emotion to another, crying and laughing. Truly incredible. You won't regret it.

#Flow è una delle più grandi lezioni ai grandi studios del cinema d'animazione. Disney, DreamWorks e compagnia bella dovrebbero guardare e riguardarsi questo film, capace di emozionare con la sola forza di immagini, musica e una grande storia da raccontare. Quello che questo glorioso genere cinematografico dovrebbe sempre fare ma che tende a non fare più, impegnato com'è alla ricerca del guadagno facile e veloce a tutti i costi.

L’animazione riportata alle origini per l’Oscar forse più meritato dell’edizione 2025. Flow scalza dal trono Pixar e Dreamworks perché gli ricorda, con efficacia e semplicità, che l’animazione è da sempre una questione di emozioni, immagini e musiche, un complesso processo di sintesi dove dilungarsi non serve e la chiarezza è fondamentale. Un piccolo film lettone ci ricorda quanto, da sempre, sia la perfetta armonia tra musica e immagini a rendere grande un cartone animato: ci viene raccontato di un mondo post-apocalittico, popolato solo da animali, dove un gatto dovrà scendere a patti con la sua natura solitaria per sopravvivere.
Flow racconta tante cose, lancia tanti messaggi, nascondendoli molto bene in un road movie avventuroso, divertente e molto toccante. Gints Zilbalodis ci vuole parlare di noi e di un mondo che, prima o poi, non sarà più nostro, ma anche di come possiamo facilmente superare le nostre divergenze e collaborare tutti insieme, anche se ci sentiamo troppo diversi l’uno dall’altro per farlo.
A raccontarcelo bastano davvero poche cose: basta un mondo dove la natura si è ripresa il suo posto, bastano i movimenti tremendamente espressivi e realistici degli animali, basta un’animazione fluida e piacevole, bastano dei colori pastello tenui e calorosi. In un cinema sempre più impegnato a cercare il troppo a tutti i costi, nessuno ci aveva pensato, ma bastava davvero poco per dar vita a un grande film.
