There is nothing so special about this time, seen from the perspective of an immortal. Anything has happened before. Earth doesn't need us.
The only new thing us that humans, in contrast to the #cyanobacteria of the #GreatOxidationEvent, were conscious:

Yes, the only other species known to me to have ever been so stupid as to have destroyed their whole biosphere on a global level, are #cyanobacteria in the #GreatOxidationEvent in the #Paleoproterozoic Era.
2.4 billion years and #humanity collectively has an #IQ of these ancient bacteria.
Maybe, it deserves to become extinct?
Cheers!

Spannend.

...and, relatively speaking with regard to his intellect, the most stupid one in all of history: the cyano bacteria that probly were the first "beings" that destroyed their habitat on a global scale (#GreatOxidationEvent) did neither have the cognitive faculties, nor any antecedents from which they could have learned:

Breathtaking Discovery: Unearthing Microfossils That Redefine Life’s Evolution
Scientists have discovered ancient microfossils in Western Australia, offering new insights into the rise of complex life during the Great Oxidation Event. These findings, which show similarities to algae, could redefine our understanding of life’s evolution and the potential for complex life forms in the universe.

Thank you very much for sharing this interesting aspect.
I shall read it later on.
Is this similar to the #phototrophs of the #Archean Eon (07:16 min, see link below) 3.6-2.5 bn yrs ago, which invented #photosynthesis, using hydrogen and dissolving sulphite to create sulphur and suphuric acid?
(not to be equated with the #GreatOxidationEvent shown in the preview below)
