while the world is working with SOTA #opensource #LLM at over 200 tokens per second, #jetbrains is still trying to fix its #JUNIE - my god, how sad. by the time junie works properly on #windows, it’ll already be so outdated that no one will care anymore... not that it isn't already the case today, but well... too bad. that’s what happens when you rush a launch at all costs and ignore half your users in the process... 🙄

One cool thing I noticed about JetBrains Mono is that its lowercase characters are taller than in most programming fonts. This is cool because their height is large enough to improve readability, yet still small enough to clearly distinguish uppercase letters from lowercase ones.

This difference becomes especially noticeable when you've used JetBrains Mono daily for years and then suddenly decide to try something else.

@ctietze @mjog If I remember things correctly, the #eglot also uses Eclipse language server.

Tried this thing a year (or two) ago, found that I need to edit some ugly Eclipse-specific XML to setup my favourite coding covention — and stayed with #IDEA :dragnsad:

Also I met the same problems like in original post.

Will be happy to check this new server! 1-2 yrs ago there were only Eclipse and discontinued :dragnsad: #Jetbrains language server (cos they want the IDEA as first class citizen?)

Using JetBrains' AI Chat for a week now. It's not bad as it can understand context well, but it still gets about 40% completely wrong.

It has been useful at least to procvide ideas on how to approach some code and also to bring me up to speed of things I have not touched for a while.

However, like most LLMs, in the hands of an average or below-average programmer it is a risk to an organisation in terms of maintenance and bugs-in-production.

#AI is a cost factor in web development - and I expect increased prices, not cheaper solutions in future. Has anyone experience with local models (without cloud pricing), which CPU is required, etc.? E.g. for #jetbrains #phpstorm AI offline mode or other tools? 🤔 (And is there any chance that they might be a bit more sustainable in regards to energy usage? 🌱)
