I had a conversation this afternoon with the director of my regional public library, about Libby. She said that tagging books as Notify Me is what tells her what to buy. Libby notifies her about the requests for books from users, and if any book has more than three requests, she orders it. So using Notify Me is important!!!

Got a #library card last week. I recommended a couple books for them to get. To which they told me that they don't buy English books over a year old (and even then I have my doubts). Signed up to the #BanQ over lunch and signed into #libby (which my local library never even heard about). Returned my books and asked to cancel my account which they also refused to do. To top it off, our tax dollars are being wasted on a long delayed and over budget renovation of a church into a new library.

When using Libby app, it gives me the choice to read the book on my tablet using:
1. The Libby app
2. The Kindle app

I've opened a few books in Libby and Kindle.

My style is reading #fiction on my tablet in the landscape mode. The tablet is propped up on a table with a kickstand. Plus my vision is getting progressively worse so Font Size is important.

QUESTION: Do you recommend Libby or #Kindle while reading a Libby provided books.

Cutting off funding to the Institute of Museum and Library Services is a personal issue for me. I'm an avid reader, reading 50-60 books yearly. All my #reading is on the iPhone Kindle app from the three closest libraries via the #Libby app. That app has made it very easy to manage my holds and loans; overall, it's a great experience. Now that cutting is being cut, I learned it was a project of the federal government via the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

At some point, Libby removed the ability to read books in-app and relies entirely on passing things to Amazon and the Kindle app.
This sucks because I deleted the Kindle app for being annoyingly full of attempts to sell me things.
UPDATE: they didn’t, the option used to be something you chose when you borrowed a book, and some time in the past it became a toggle in the settings - which at the time I probably liked because I was using Kindle and only accidentally opened a book in Libby by accident.

I've had my #Kobo Libra Colour #ereader for a month. I'm so glad I switched from #Kindle when I did. #FuckAmazon

I worried about being able to load #ebooks from two different #libraries based on some reviews, but I found setup instructions on Reddit and have successfully synced borrowed #books from both cards via #Libby / #Overdrive. I think I can only browse one library on the device, but I prefer to do that from my computer anyway.

I love that adding a bookmark looks like a dog-eared page! 😍
