Dr. Anna Latour<p>Dear light-sensitive people, can you please share experiences with or recommendations for FL-41 glasses?</p><p>I am looking for something that will help me navigate the harsh lights at my work place. I do have a rather small skull, so I often have to look long and hard for sunnies that don't slide off my nose. Hence, I'm looking for FL-41 glasses that have a relatively small fit. Do you have any recommendations?</p><p>Do you have any other advice that you can share? Thanks!</p><p><a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/Photophobia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Photophobia</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/LightSensitivity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LightSensitivity</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/AskingForAFriend" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AskingForAFriend</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/ActuallyAutistic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ActuallyAutistic</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/Neurodiversity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Neurodiversity</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/Neurodivergence" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Neurodivergence</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/Neurodivergent" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Neurodivergent</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/ADHD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ADHD</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/AuDHD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AuDHD</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/Autism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Autism</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/FL41" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FL41</span></a></p>
:neuro: Pixy's Journey :v_bi:<p>Hmm 🤔 last time we were here, it was raining like mad and still dark when we headed home. I did bring my clip-over, and my sunglasses, but they're both in the car. So of course now it does get rather light as we walk here...<br>Hope my eyes won't be too bothered, as I will have to drive us home in a bit. I'll have my clip then but I could also have a headache...<br>Light sensitivity is hard at times... (well, at times when there is light, which people like to have and I'll be like... That's a bit too much for me).</p><p>I wish it was easier to explain how just normal daylight, even at the start of the day, can feel overwhelming and a trigger for a bad headache. 😔</p><p><a href="https://beige.party/tags/LightSensitivity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LightSensitivity</span></a></p>

I prefer 25 &amp; 40 watt incandescent bulbs. Upgrading would force me to live w 2-3x brighter light in my home - which would trigger <a href="https://disabled.social/tags/migraine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>migraine</span></a>.</p>
SmolSelkie<p>If you have sensitivity to bright lights, it's definitely worth investing in dimmable lightbulbs for your place. I usually have my lights on no higher than 50% brightness, enough to see by but not to induce a headache, and only turn them up for working on detailed art/crafts. Dimmable lights are a game changer. <a href="https://kcmo.social/tags/ActuallyAutistic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ActuallyAutistic</span></a> <a href="https://kcmo.social/tags/SensoryIssues" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SensoryIssues</span></a> <a href="https://kcmo.social/tags/LightSensitivity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LightSensitivity</span></a></p>
just a mere cat 😷 #LütziLebt :vegan:<p>I really love the "Extra dim" accessibility feature, which helps a lot for my light sensitivity. However, I already often use it even during during the day (with shut window blinds), so even the extra dimmest level is sometimes too bright in the night. Is there a (non-root) way to make the display even dimmer than that? (Without turning it off, obviously.)</p><p>For <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/Firefox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Firefox</span></a> (more precisely: Mull Browser on <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/FDroid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FDroid</span></a>), there's the Dark Reader add-on. It does it's job very well (when I set the contrast to highest, the background is completely black / turned off AMOLED); so at least I have an option for web browsing.</p><p><a href="https://todon.eu/tags/Android" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Android</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/accessibility" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>accessibility</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/lightSensitivity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lightSensitivity</span></a> (boosts OK)</p>

GinevraCat<p>Yesterday (Day 8 of COVID) my eyes were fine again - no problemo! Today, about an hour after waking up, I had to close all the blinds and come off screens again. Twig<p>My nearest neighbor to the south is about 500 ft away. They have a HUGE carport that's a little uphill from us and they leave the lights on in the carport all night. It was annoying until all the leaves fell. Now their lights give me headaches. I'm going to have to go talk with them about it, but I suspect it's not going to go well. May just need to get blackout curtains for the entire house. <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/ActuallyAutistic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ActuallyAutistic</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/LightSensitivity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LightSensitivity</span></a></p>
