In light of teriffs and the rumor that #NOISH is shutting down, may I recommend Envo Masks from NH should we be unable to get masks we know are real?

They impressed me when they started offering the plug for the exhale valve and I didn’t want to buy a whole pack of them, so I wrote to them and asked them if I could purchase just one or two since the early versions didn’t have them, and they sent me a couple for free.

Oh and we don’t have sales tax here (NH USA). I don’t remember if they have to charge you if you do.

This is cool. I don’t have kids so this isn’t for me (if it’s libertarians PLEASE NOTE: NH Libertarians as a group are pro pedo so AVOID if this is them.) But a covid cautious parents group sounds like a good idea.

Huge cuts at NIOSH mean that those who reply on respirators to keep themselves safe will have less protection. This impacts firefighters, miners, healthcare workers and all manner of industries.

It’s also devastating to the disability community.

“You do you” Covid policies left many of us with N95s as our main line of defence against repeat infection.

Respirators make public spaces accessible. They allow us to attend healthcare appointments without forced infection.

Cutting the people who ensure their quality will endanger disabled lives.

the thing about echo chambers, is they reflect back what is put into them, "with character" - think of how a choir sounds in a cathedral, versus outside

nonsense in, nonsense with character out

BUT

glorious, coordinated, beautiful voices in? Reverberating, amplified, beauty out!

what I'm getting at is: yeah, places within Mastodon & Fediverse are clearly echo chambers

but the voices in this concert hall are beautiful singly, and in harmony, and in dissonance. Songs that reflect the human condition, and broader reality.

It's not misleading to be in an echo chamber where "2+2=4"[*] and "what does the evidence say" are mantras.

I'm sure this is not an original thought, thanks to whoever (in this echo chamber!) planted it in my brain however long ago.

@raymondpert “The letter also demands that Columbia ban masks on campus meant to conceal the wearer’s identity ‘or intimidate others,’ adopt a new definition of antisemitism, abolish its current process for discipliningstudents and deliver a plan to ‘reform undergraduate admissions, international recruiting, and graduate admissions practices.’”

Ew. Just in time for them all to get measles.

But back to the topic at hand, this is a great way to ruin people’s lives. Anyone in those programs is not matriculated if those programs end, meaning their student loan grace period or repayment starts. And if they’re on a student visa . . . idk but this is life ruining for people who have invested years working towards these degrees.

@pezmico I am excited to see so many Novids. 💚

I know a lot of people don’t believe us, but I have more than 100 photos of negative Covid tests I’ve taken over the years. And since I’m already disabled by MECFS I wear a mask literally everywhere, I haven’t eaten in a restaurant or had coffee in a coffee shop since 2019, and I would know it if I got infected. I crash if I laugh on the phone with a friend too long, there’s no way I would have an asymptomatic infection ever.

Pop quiz: There's a costume party in 2 hours, and all you have is a pair of cat ears and a 3D printer. What do you do?

We were invited to a birthday party over the weekend, and the hostess wanted everyone to come in "party animal" costumes, even if you "just throw on those old black cat ears you got for Halloween".

@llorenzin and I would be masking, since the party would be a bunch people in a small apartment, and I got to thinking about what I could do to add to those "old black cat ears" from the Halloween box...

One of my protective masks has a SIP valve for drinking using a small straw. While out running on Friday, I thought about how could replace the SIP cover with one of my own design, adding an arch that could be used to hold some pipe cleaners as whiskers.

We ended up with a very busy Saturday, but with a couple hours to go before the party, I pulled out my calipers, pulled up Tinkercad, and threw together a simple design for a cover with an arch (made of just 3 basic geometric shapes plus cutouts).

My first two prints failed because I didn't slice it with supports under the arch, and the "arch" ended up as a big ugly glob of plastic. Doh! After re-slicing with supports, it printed great. The fit over the SIP valve was good, and it worked just the way I had hoped! Yay!

@whn I mask because my life was destroyed when someone infected me with EBV. If someone infects me with anything else I would have to seek revenge & I would end up in jail. And I don’t want to go to jail.

My mask protects me & THEM.

And I also wear a mask because I haven’t caught anything contagious since before 2020. Being sick sucks, why would I want to do that?

#MasksWork.

Welp, it doesn’t sound like anyone showed up to speak for the kids. The death cult is going to win this one.

I guess nobody told this horrible woman that magical thinking doesn’t work. Wanting something to be over and it actually being over aren’t connected with each other when it comes to public health.

“Rep. Kelley Potenza, R-Rochester also supported the bill.
‘My family suffered greatly,’ during COVID-19 under mandatory mask policies at school and does not ever want to see this happen again.
‘Let’s just get this done,’ she said.”
