contrapunctus ✊🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Another week, another #OpenStreetMap mapping party. https://en.osm.town/@OSMIndia/114850652948680682

Incidentally, these take hours and hours to organize and publicize, so if anyone fancies supporting me on my Liberapay, please do so. I’m unemployed and I’d like to continue hosting these. http://liberapay.com/contrapunctus/

Since we had only 4 or 5 people turning up within the first 15 minutes of the party, it seemed that we would not have a lot of participants…but then, people gradually trickled in until we had 11!

A number of our regular co-organizers/mentors were away in other lands - one in Bihar, another in Brest, France - and another one was not feeling well. This too affected the headcount and contributions.

That aside, there’s a bit of good news. I just realized that the new approach - that of going through a fixed rotation of zones, and trying to get locals to join their local events instead of trying to get people all over Delhi to join each event - is working.

I knew a number of people from the Ghaziabad area who long wanted to attend, but found traveling to Delhi too tedious. They were finally able to attend. Indeed, 7 of the 11 participants were new mappers!

Here’s hoping to an even better turnout in our upcoming mapping parties.

#OSM #Delhi #India
