In my quest to get off of bad corpo affiliated software and hardware in my home's tech stack, I've done things like switching my endpoints to #endeavouros and #debian. I have plans for moving to #ipfire and #openwrt for my firewall and APs. Those are coming.

Today though, I moved from #canonical #k8s and migrated to #k3s.

I knew about how much better documentation and projects there was for k3s (looking at you k3sup), but I didn't realize how much better performance and efficiency that I got.

I switched from Ubuntu to Debian as well in this change, but I still went from an average load of 1.8 (with a dual core VM) to a load of .80.

My same pods/apps, same YAML (since I brought over #metallb). But that much of a drop in utilization. Same Proxmox host.

I'm looking forward to more experiences like this!

YMMV

I am far from being a web accessibility expert, but I tried reporting what I suspect is a keyboard navigation problem in OpenWRT's "Luci" web frontend user interface, particularly the main navbar menus, which I was unable to use on a computer without a mouse: github.com/openwrt/luci/issues

I hope my hunches of "how it should probably work" are correct.

Is there an existing issue for this? I have searched among all existing issues (including closed issues) screenshots or captures No response Actual behaviour When you load the Luci GUI and try to u...

Fun that you comment that, today I undusted an old router so I can set up a wireless network in my bedroom with less interference than the one my home office's walls are causing. It's so old that the manufacturer already marked it EOL but hey, it has a firmware replacement thanks to #OpenWRT so I'll try to install that later.

@thekitmalone Thanks to the power of Linux (#opensuse and #openwrt), I get a lot of extended life out of hardware that would have otherwise long since EoLed, including wireless APs that are still going great after 15 years, and a desktop PC recently retired after 18 years of trusty service. LineaageOS also worth a look for old phones/tablets.

I've been running #ddwrt for years without issue. The router is in the basement and the front ground floor area of the house has a pretty weak signal.

I'm considering updating to a GliNet MT6000 running #OpenWRT in the basement and an AXT1800 running it upstairs with ethernet backhaul.

That should overkill the problem. Then again, most of the network works OK. Is it worth the cost and technical debt of translating current settings on ddwrt to a new firmware.

Pytanie do naszej fedi spoleczności:
Co macie zainstalowane na swoich sprzętach? Z czego korzystacie na codzień?

Może zacznę od siebie:
Pecet: #CachyOS, laptop: #Arch
Przeglądarka: #Firefox + uBlock, uMatrix, betterfox
Rpi: #LibreELEC + kilka dockerów
Telefon: #GrapheneOS, przeglądarka #ironfox
Telefon_2: #PostmarketOS z #Phosh
Router: #OpenWRT z #Luci + bloker reklam
Odkurzacz: #Valetudo

Ciekaw jestem waszych wyborów. Może podpatrzę coś ciekawego?
A może sami macie jakieś pytania do mojej konfiguracji?

Nutzt hier wer #BusyBox? #alpine

IMO aber eher theoretisch, da man dafür augenscheinlich erst mal (unpriviligiert) an das System rankommen muss.

Text that reads: A: n the context of security vulnerability disclosure, the term
"embargo" refers to an agreed-upon period of time during which details
of a discovered vulnerability are kept confidential. This allows
affected parties (such as software vendors, maintainers, or downstream
distributions) time to prepare and release patches or mitigations
before the vulnerability becomes public.

The list is public, hence agreed immediately to disclosure or the
30-days confidential period past invaine (or just a template). Anyway,
good time to list those systems that are impacted and those that are
not affected by this vulnerability.

HUH!? Since when does the gateway of a network not allowed to be the first address of the network. I have been racking my brain on why an #openwrt config wasn't working only to find that things like iphones, ipads, smart tvs don't like the net gateway to be the first address (e.g. 172.16.0.0). Naturally, Linux has no problem with this.

:gnu:
