@KarlHeinzHasliP That's why I said used as well.

  • OFC I wished for something else and I'd even consider DIY some methanol fuelcell thingy, but at a cost in the 5 digits for the fuel cell assembly alone that's just not practical.

#BEV|s ain't the answer - #PublicTransport is!

  • Meanwhile I'll have to make due with what I can afford & maintain!

As for small EVs: If it doesn't have a #CCS2 connector and I can't charge it full in 30min from 0 it's not practical and I'm pretty shure every charging station will throw me out if it takes several hours to recharge.

  • And those €200 adaptors will either be not permitted or get vandalized or stolen by passers-by...

@KarlHeinzHasliP if you can find me an EV that is actually affordable and useable and not a privacy nightmare, I'll gladly switch.

  • Meanwhile all those #Swasticars need to outlive my used one by at least 200.000km to break even on total CO².

If I can take breaks, I take #PublicTransport. It's just not an option and on some jobs I would've not been hired without a reliable car.

  • Plus not everyone is able or willing to dish out 5+ digits for a #Wallbox at their rented parking spot when it's not even clear that would be legal as per fire safety code at all, given the landlord doesn't even allow people to refuel cars down there and #BatteryFires are a whole new level of shit!
Infosec.SpaceKevin Karhan :verified: (@kkarhan@infosec.space)@FlanFlinger@mastodon.social no. Unless you can find me a car that seats me comfortably, costs < €4k (used or new) to buy and < € 100 in tax per year in Germany. - Not to mention I rarely exceed 1000km a month, often barely go over 500km and EVs are a pain in the ass to repair or service. And with car I mean EC Vehicle Class M1. - A Piaggio Ape 50 or anything that isn't highway legal or gets honked by trucks for being slow isn't gonna cut it and I do need at least 2+2 seating and about 125l of cargo volume on top.

Fifteen years and 30 studies later, Tasmania to seek federal funds for 'rapid bus' line
By Adam Holmes

With one-in-four spectators at the Macquarie Point stadium expected to arrive by bus, Hobart's public transport infrastructure could need a major shake-up. But a disused rail corridor is undergoing even more studies.

Bus passengers of the eastern suburbs - rejoice!

Despite breaking down again yesterday, it seems that the Box Hill Bus Station escalator is back up and running today.

Have updated the counter accordingly and hopefully I can now shut up about it: philipmallis.com/2025/02/07/th

Took the kids to the beach in #Cromer today. We went entirely by public transport from #Norwich.

Our train tickets were £11.25 for 3 of us (me disabled rail card).

We weren’t sure about how much we would use the bus, so made the mistake of buying singles. Cost £12.50 to get across city to train station and back again.

But overall not a bad price for day out.

Cromer was completely congested with traffic.

How do we persuade more folks to use #PublicTransport? It’s already there.
