#Tasker is probably the best app available for #Android, since it lets you make the phone work for *you* in whatever ways you want. You know, what computers are made for. But over time Google is locking down Android so that Tasker can do fewer and fewer things, and making you jump through complicated hoops to do them. Making the phone more and more useless in the process. Thanks, #Google.
Viable and usable Linux phone, where aaare yoouuu?

What’s on my Phone? – 2025

Ein weiteres Jahr ist vergangen und damit auch wieder Zeit für mein jährliches "What's on my phone"-Update! […]

I think the only reason why many ad infested apps haven't been replaced by #Tasker scripts with less than a dozen commands each is the rather peculiar user experience.
Which is me saying that a dentist visit may be more pleasant.
And what is it with video tutorials rather than good docs?

But there's really no alternative, is there?

It seems that on Android you cannot set DND to a holiday calendar that is sourced by Google Calendar (!)
Edit: not to mention setting it per app, as I **really** don't need notifications from fucking Linkedin, today, or before I go to bed.

Can automation software, as Tasker be allowed to do that?… No, fuck you.

Edit 2: of course it can be done with rooting. All the things to make Android less shitty are behind the “rootwall”.
Edit 3: or behind a freemium app…

Did anybody successfully automate #AdAway with #Tasker ?
In theory there's a possibility to control it via intents but I feel like nothing works anymore.

Here's the initial request
github.com/AdAway/AdAway/issue

And this is the wiki page about it:
github.com/AdAway/AdAway/wiki/

I tried it but the app does not exist anymore in Play or F-Droid and without it, it doesn't seem to work.

How cool! Just got used to the left-right-shake to toggle play and pause of active media app via Tasker when I discovered "Tap, Tap" which seems to work fine with my Samsung Galaxy A53.

github.com/KieronQuinn/TapTap

"Tap, Tap provides over 50 actions that can be run from double or triple taps on the back of your device"

As #Android is becoming more and more locked down, trying to become #iOS, I see fewer and fewer reasons to use it. #Tasker (the best ever case for Android) getting nerfed over the years, #SyncThing canceling their official Android app due to Google's shenanigans regarding Play rules etc. Why use "spying af iOS" when I can use the original "a bit less spying iOS"? Please for the sake of humanity, can proper #Linux mobile become a viable thing already?

For #Android users who are using @readeck.

I have made a #Tasker Profile to share URLs to #Readeck with AutoShare.

Here is the Profile file to import:
drive.google.com/file/d/1Vb1Ot

You need to add %ReadeckUser and %ReadeckPassword variables with your user and password. And another empty %ReadeckAPIKey.

And installation of AutoShare:

My LG G8 with 128 GB storage has almost no free space. I hardly have any local media at all on here. The stuff that is is heavily compressed and takes maybe only 4 GB tops? I keep downloads pruned. Not many apps. Only a couple games.

Poof. 8 gigs free.

I've been satisfied with Android since the 4.4 and 5.0 days. My nerding and geeking streak disappeared. IDGAF. #Google been fucking things up wrt #Tasker and background services meant to keep running on 11 up, but that's for another time...
