This week's #ThreadTalk post is live over at the Schmatreon.
A topic near and dear to my heart, it's all about guilds run by women and the lengths they went to keep their power in France.
This ain't revisionist history, baby. It's just history.

Our #ThreadTalk Dress of the Week is on one of my favorite topics: boys' dresses.
Let's smash some gender perceptions with history on our side, shall we?
Patrons, you know where to go!
My #ThreadTalk dress of the week article has QUITE the title:
Lottie Barton: Minister of Aesthetics, Smuggler, and Baltimore Designer
That's a lot to pack into one essay, but I'm glad to do it. Even more fun when I get to dig into some primary sources.
Patrons, take note!
Our #threadtalk Dress of the Week is quite the tale: from Scotland to Fifth Avenue, then from the sinking of the Titanic to Asheville, NC.
Let's meet modiste duo, sisters Farquharson & Wheelock, and find out the story behind the taffeta.
This pink gown, replete with pleats, is utterly stunning. From 1900.
The pleats in bubblegum pink satin give a surprisingly modern feel to the gown's structure, but it's a fairly simple gown in terms of its silhouette. The train is lovely, and the stripes of silk accentuate the organic flow of fabric. The neckline hearkens back to the early Victorian period. But fun fact--had two different tops! This would allow a woman to shift from day to evening wear.
Do you miss #ThreadTalk? You don't have to!
This week, we meet Maison Félix, a competitor of the House of Worth, discuss gender roles in fashion design, scandalous paintings, and early maternity insurance!

I may be a little obsessed with banyans. But can you blame me?
Today's #threadtalk discussion is all about the glorious garment that men loved to wear at home.
Our Dress of the Week is all about embroidery, the court of Louis XV, and the role women played.
All inspired by one of the most stunning gowns I've ever seen!
All patrons get a dress of the week delivered... well, every week! Plus a history lesson.
You also know it's a good week for it when one of my sources is a dissertation!
