@timbray @signalapp did something incredible recently. I went to click on my little profile icon to change my image. The profile icon disappeared and I got a pop-up with something along the lines of: "The Profile settings have been moved to the Settings tab, which you can access by clicking the gear below".

I'm so used to things just disappearing from my #ui. Clearly a lot of thought and intentionality from the Signal people in terms of #ux and changing it.

@penpot Well, this is awkward.

At some point, while saying or writing “activating the scaling tool from the preferences menu”, you may have thought, “Hang on, why do we have a -tool- in the -Preferences- menu? None of the other tools are there.”

In reality, it’s neither a tool nor a preference. It’s a variation of resizing. You’ve implemented it as a mode which is:
• easy to enter by accident
• hard to notice (zero indication unless you happen to be hovering over a resize handle)
• easy to forget that you’re in while doing non-resizing things.

Standard design for this is a -quasimode- where you hold down one or more modifier keys while doing the resizing. (Penpot could use Alt+Shift+ for this.) A quasimode is:
• much harder to enter by accident
• impossible not to notice
• impossible to forget that you’re in.

Times have changed, and now I use obsidian atomic vaults to store various responses from LLMs.

I no longer send a query to an LLM unless I’m ready to save it in obsidian. This way, I spend more time refining my #prompts.

Obsidian provides a solid #UI for comparing #LLM responses with each other.

Especially if you remember to include in the #metadata how the answer was generated.
