Da asserts that most Chinese people he talks w/viewed #USAID, the #ForeignAid agency, as one of America's strengths, improving its image & influence in the developing world. Virtually eliminating the agency was "in #China's interest."
Da said he learned some of his English in college while listening to #VOA broadcasts & also learned news that wasn't reported in the Chinese media.
Da acknowledges that in recent years, VOA was less important as the internet spread. But he says another agency mattered more: the U.S. Agency for International Development (#USAID).

Aber was macht die EU und D? Nicht viel. So ist bspw. das THW mit Trinkwasseraufbereitungsanlagen (TWA) aufgestellt. Aber helfen sie? Der Anforderungsprozeß ist so aufwändig und langatmig usw., daß sie nur selten spontan zum Einsatz kommen. Bundeswehr und mobile Krankeknhäuser? Dito. Und es geht so weiter. Nur warme Worte

President Trump said Friday that the U.S. was going to help with the response to Southeast Asia’s deadly earthquake.
But the effects of his administration’s deep cuts in foreign assistance through the U.S. Agency for International Development and the State Department will likely be tested in any response to the first big natural disaster of his second term.
