@luc For this server, I am using #duplicity (wrapped in #duply). Originally, it used #restic, but the pruning ended up using too much RAM (but restic has improved this, and I've upgraded from a 4GB system to 32GB since then, so maybe I'll switch back to restic or #borgbackup sometime soon, since I found out that duplicity does not back up ACLs...).

I'm also still using restic (with a custom script) for my laptop backups, and borg (with borgmatic) for some other servers/raspberry pis.

My #backup routine just saved me.

I unintentionally deleted 2 months/300GB worth of source video files that I thought I had already moved off my laptop and onto my storage server.

My routine:
bvckup2.com app $50 several years ago syncs laptop to network every 3 hours and keeps deleted files in an archive folder for 1 month.

Then weekly offsite backup via Borg (borgbackup.org) which gives 5 months of deduplicated backups (15TB into 1.2TB on disk)

Currently I'm working on extending my #Ansible collection more specifically the ansible_podman role.

I'm extending my #podman role with plugins, so it will not only deploy but also configure the containerized application / service.

Currently I'm supporting #postgresql and #borgmatic #borgbackup
In that very process I'm also reworking those roles as the plugins just use the existing roles.

Jumpstart a host with postgresql database, borgmatic backup and apprise notifications.
#docker

borgmatic 2.0.0 has been released with more flexible, completely revamped command hooks, all configuration options settable on
the command-line, and new configuration options for many command-line flags (including verbosity!).

EDIT: borgmatic 2.0.1 has been released with a fix for a showstopper with Python < 3.12. 😅

@eliasp Thanks for the tip. #Restic Backup restic.net/ seems interesting.

The #NixOS wiki has a page on #BorgBackup - wiki.nixos.org/wiki/Borg_backu, which sounds like a really interesting way to do backups, but because I'm new to it, I haven't set it up yet. I'm used to Déjà Dup apps.gnome.org/DejaDup/ , but was never happy with it, so didn't set out up either. I suppose I've let better be the enemy of good.

Maybe this third choice can serve as a tie breaker 😆
