Alan Lewis<p>ROD ARGENT UPDATE<br>Mastodon Post</p><p>The main updates on Rod Argent of The Zombies and the band, Argent, so far, are mostly coming from social media. They agree that Argent has decided to retire from touring. It is my hope more extensive reporting will follow. This seems to be all we have at the moment.</p><p>The Zombies has been one of my favorite rock bands since "She's Not There." I compile various artists music collections; and the one I am working on right now ends with The Zombies' "You've Really Got a Hold On Me," which is actually a medley with Sam Cooke's "Bring It On Home to Me."</p><p>Rod Argent's "Time of the Season," by The Zombies, has long been a favorite on paranormal radio. Even though Richard was a big rock star in the UK with a long-running career, this track seems to be obscure, which is one reason for posting it here. Amazon has a massive collection of digital downloads but it doesn't have this one.</p><p>"Red Rubber Ball" by Cliff Richard is worth a spin. It is very different from the records he cut when his career was on the rise.</p><p>"Red Rubber Ball" was written by Paul Simon. The best version I ever heard was by Simon in concert (1966) with some other guy he teamed up with in the 1960s. It has never really sunk in why the song is credited to Simon and Bruce Woodley, but evidently this resulted from a business collaboration and not songwriting teamwork.
