Looking into welding a hollow steel d20 dice aka icosahedron.
There are three factors that are dependent on the final result:
- thickness of the steel sheet metal,
- length of the equilateral triangle, and
- diameter as twice the circumradius.
Looked at sheet metal thickness of 2-5 mm and triangle length of 75-200 mm where the end resulting weight is 0.78-13.9 kg without the reduction/addition of welding and using steel density of 0.008 g/mm^3. The diameter respected to the triangle length is 143-380 mm.

The big family headache was getting NJ's castle project finished on time. They were given various aspects they COULD put in a castle and her design included almost all of them.
Apart from the "mechanics" the castle design is hers and she did the painting and line work. Wifey had to cut the windows because the knife has a recommended age of 18 to use it so NJ needs another decade yet.
I made a working basic ballista, just to see if I could, really.

Someone already noticed the quiver at the back in my former post so here it is in full :-) As with so much else I`ve used scandinavian historical (year 800-950) motifs. I find them extremely beuatiful and cant help thinking those crafters, in small pieces of metal, back then was as brilliant as those of our days 1500 years later.

I am trying to think of a way to motivate myself to either finish the original pattern or adapt the edge into modern 3D stitches such as front or back post treble crochet. This pattern is super easy (if you're familiar with thread crochet weight) except for the part where I had to fumble with calculations...

I wanted to make a stork for a while, but the legs threw me off. They are long and thin, and that did not seem doable, so I just completely changed the proportions, which worked surprisingly well!
