We also have our first #crocus open today. This is #CrocusChrysanthus “Cream Beauty.” They start out this yellowy butter color and fade to cream as the flowers age.

The #CrocusTommasinianus “Barr’s Purple” are starting to poke their buds up between the grass, but they might have to wait until after the snow that’s due tomorrow to give us a show.

A single yellow crocus flower surrounded by a mixture of last year's thatch and fresh green blades of grass starting to push their way through. The sunlight through the petals makes the center of the flower glow like a beautiful, tiny golden lamp.

Among the dried leaves and blown stems from last fall. Some perky white crocus flowers with feathered veins of deep purple bursting from the center. Each flower has five petals with a bright stamen of yellow orange standing at attention in the center. 31 Mar 2025

A series of small crocuses growing against a still gray and brown background.

There are five crocus flowers, each of them purple with yellow stamens. Although it's hard to tell in the photo, the flowers are only 3-4 inches tall, and very delicate.

Some more spring impressions from my hometown.

We had several days of warm spell (high twenties) and today we're back to 5-6C. Sometimes I feel like I'm still in Scotland..

Two tiny white crocus blooms (about 1 to 1.5cm wide in diametre). The ground around them are carpeted with small green leaves.

Pale pink plum blossoms agains the background of light blue sky.

Camellia type deep and bright pink flowers and their dark green leaves.

A miniature blue flower (about 5mm in diamitre) with five petals and whitish yellow disk in the middle, blooming on the ground with some light green (some brown) leaves on the ground. As I was taking this picture, our dog got curious and nosed around the area I was photographing. Thus, on the upper left side of the picture, we can see a massive, creamy-coloured, and out of focus muzzle of our dog.

After a rather knurled first false spring, we’ve got some days coming up that might actually be real spring. The #Daffodils and #Crocus are always early risers after winter around here in #SWMichigan #Kalamazoo #Bloomscrolling

A tightly curled Daffodil shoot is just about ready to unfurl. Green and brown litter on the ground, a bright green stalk amongst side leaves, and topped with a brilliant yellow cone of curled up blossom.

A purple crocus. Surrounded by dirt and leaf litter from last fall, this low-slung crocus is purple, with a tight white edge around the blossoms and a deep golden center where the stamen and pistils are.

Some guerilla pickwick crocuses close to the road. Sneaky walkers I suspect but it could be squirrels. I did plant some of these types last fall but they aren't blooming in that location yet.
