After a lovely and relaxed dinner full of nice conversations with a group of really wonderful people, I took a few extra steps with my camera before heading home. That evening I took the camera with me because I thought there must be some nice neon lights somewhere in the big city. Lucky me, I found some.

From diagonally below, the view falls on a red neon sign in cursive script with the inscription "Parfümerie B". It is mounted in front of a semi-circular window. The niche of the window is illuminated in red by the neon tubes. The building itself can only be guessed at as it disappears into the darkness of the night. The picture is almost monochrome red in the lights.

Yesterday I decided to take my criminally neglected Sigma SD Quattro for a spin again. The camera and its #Foveon sensor may have their share of quirks, but the results still blow me away completely. There is really nothing comparable out there, and I sincerely hope that Sigma finds a way to resurrect the technology. Unfortunately the moment I picked it up I remembered that #darktable has an annoying bug which makes handling Sigma DNG files a somewhat frustrating and needlessly […]

The Nevada State Fish is Oncorhynchus henshawi henshawi (Lahontan cutthroat trout). It was once an important food source for the Paiute and Washoe tribes of Nevada and California. The fish evolved in the large endorheic Pleistocene Lake Lahonton that covered a portion of northeastern California and most of northwestern Nevada.
