ceeg<p>hey how do you buy a single electrical component nowadays.... I don't live in a major city but I only ever need 2 or 3 of something at a time for repairs (this time a reed switch for a rockband game drum foot pedal) and I'm disgusted by the business model that because these cost pennies, I should buy a lot of 50 or 100 components, 99% of which will go to waste.</p><p>is the answer to find my local makerspace? we have a couple in town, at least ostensibly, but I have never reached out for resources.</p><p><a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/repair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>repair</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/electricalengineering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>electricalengineering</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/righttorepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>righttorepair</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/anticapitalism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>anticapitalism</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/coops" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>coops</span></a></p>

Anna-Lena Marx<p>Did you know I studied electrical engineering besides work? On Thursday, I finished my bachelor's thesis with the final presentation and it's time to finally present my project: ZEReader, a microcontroller-based E-Reader.<br>Inspired by the Open Book Project by Joey Castillo, I designed my own platform from scratch. My focus was on building a reader usable in everyday life that is capable of handling books in the EPUB format. The project is still in a very early phase, but it shows great potential, and I have lots of ideas for future revisions.</p><p>You can follow the project's journey and see its current state at <a href="https://marx.engineer/zereader/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">marx.engineer/zereader/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> and the linked GitHub repos!</p><p>And of course, a special thank you to <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://aisler.social/@aislerhq" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>aislerhq</span></a></span> for producing and sponsoring the PCBs!</p><p><a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/opensource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>opensource</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/hardware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hardware</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/ereader" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ereader</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/zephyr" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>zephyr</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/kicad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kicad</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/makers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>makers</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/electricalengineering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>electricalengineering</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a></p>
