I was looking up best practices to prune #grapevines. Pruning in the early winter back to first year growth.

When someone asked about 2 years, AI took over, and told them how to feed #grapes to a 2-year-old child 🤣

And we've been slicing them wrong all along:

"And, for smaller children – and bigger grapes – you may want to slice them lengthways into 4 quarters, rather than 2 halves."

Fall in Wine Country

My favorite time of year to photograph the grapevines of Northern California is during the fall. The grapes have all been picked and crushed. The short days signal the vines it is time to shut down and their leaves go through the fall color change.
I captured this in Suisun Valley, just east of Napa Valley.

November is perfect for planting grapevines! 🍇 As vines enter dormancy, planting now lets roots establish over winter, boosting spring growth. Use well-drained, organic-rich soil. Mulch to retain moisture and shield from frost. Start your vineyard journey today! 🌱

Bloody Hell! Scissor Burns!

There's so much to do, summer is going fast. I take a rest from lifting rocks and shoveling gravel, and do some pruning.

Pruning shears are great for woody bits, but green grapevine just binds the cutters. I have Xtra large scissors for thinning the #grapes. But I just took regular scissors, and gloves don't fit in those.. I only got half the 'vine hedge' trimmed and all my fingers are skinned.
