themitchcohen<p>The only bad thing about getting on a mountain trail is having to return to the “real” world. <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/hiking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hiking</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/GreatSmokeyMountains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GreatSmokeyMountains</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/tennessee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tennessee</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/bliss" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bliss</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/bestlife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bestlife</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/mountains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mountains</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/trilliumgaptrail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>trilliumgaptrail</span></a></p>
Sarah E Bourne<p>On our way out of Great Smokey Mountain NP we stopped at Clingmans Dome. We had driven right into the clouds, so the views were limited. It was chilly up there; the gift shop was selling a lot of jackets. We then headed south, taking the Blue Ridge Parkway as far as we could, trying not to stop at every overlook, and then down the Pisgah Parkway. The Looking Glass Falls were a bonus surprise!<br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/roadtrip" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>roadtrip</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/GreatSmokeyMountains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GreatSmokeyMountains</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/BlueRidgeParkway" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BlueRidgeParkway</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/PisgahNationalForest" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PisgahNationalForest</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mountains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mountains</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/clouds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>clouds</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/waterfall" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>waterfall</span></a></p>
Sarah E Bourne<p>Yes, we saw flowers, too. Sarah E Bourne<p>Our travels took us to the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Monday, we hiked up the trail to see Laurel Falls, and then continued up a few hundred feet (in elevation) to get away from all the people. After some lunch, we tackled the beautiful Cucumber Gap Trail and then looped back down the blissfully level Little River Trail. Total elevation gain for the day was about 1200 feet, or maybe 1300?<br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/roadtrip" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>roadtrip</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/GreatSmokeyMountains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GreatSmokeyMountains</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/waterfall" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>waterfall</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WildStones" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WildStones</span></a></p>
Rebecca Eilering<p>I don’t have many photos of waterfalls because there are not many in my neck of the woods but this was one I saw on a hike on the Laurel Falls trail in the Great Smokey Mountains this summer. It was our first of many hikes. I remember it was a damp foggy morning and Ben almost fell off the trail on the way back. It scared the hell out of me and Ben finished the hike bleeding but at least not down in a deep ravine. <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/WaterfallWednesday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WaterfallWednesday</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/GreatSmokeyMountains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GreatSmokeyMountains</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/LaurelFalls" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LaurelFalls</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/waterfall" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>waterfall</span></a></p>
