J.C. KC8JC 📻<p>I saw a discussion of Good USB Cables around here the other day. What's the best for ham radio use? Probably in the field rather than in the shack.</p><p>Thoughts?</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a></p>

Stu Gott<p>With last week's <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mas.to/@hamchallenge" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>hamchallenge</span></a></span> still open, I'm looking ahead to <a href="https://gott.social/tags/HC10" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HC10</span></a>. While i'm sure the ISS counts as an amateur radio satellite, I'm choosing to ignore that one. Why? Because I already listen to and track the ISS constantly. To me the Ham Challenge is about learning and trying new things.</p><p>So this week I will track AMSAT-OSCAR-7. This space machine has quite a storied history!</p><p>One downlink is 29.4-5 MHz. Wait a sec... Does that count a 10m repeater? 😂</p><p><a href="https://gott.social/tags/AmateurRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AmateurRadio</span></a> <a href="https://gott.social/tags/HamRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HamRadio</span></a></p>

Michael K Johnson<p>I am reconsidering my choice to use cqrlog for my primary <a href="https://social.makerforums.info/tags/HamRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HamRadio</span></a> log because of their decision that they refuse to integrate upload to QRZ. I might still use it for logging through fldigi, but I do want to upload to QRZ and feel punished for using it now... 😢</p>
J.C. KC8JC 📻<p>Only 6 contacts tonight on the SST but that's largely on me. I "had" to fix a couple of bugs in my logger on the fly. Found a couple of weird cases and probably fixed them without breaking anything else maybe? </p><p>Meh. Ship it!</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/HobbySoftware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HobbySoftware</span></a></p>
Michael K Johnson<p>First <a href="https://social.makerforums.info/tags/HamRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HamRadio</span></a> POTA adventure today. Didn't actually call CQ POTA yet, watched friends do that part and posted a spot, but started to learn the script. Then I set up new ham KR4BUA to make 10m technician band contacts. First HF contact was from North Carolina to Colorado, then from North Carolina to LT3E in Argentina — almost 5000 miles! All on a PAC-12 antenna with the coil removed and the whip shortened to tune for 10m.</p><p>When we got home, we set up the radio and I hooked it up to my 80m EFHW. It was still on the same frequency and LT3E was still calling CQ contest, and I got through as well.</p><p>Will do POTA again!</p>
Harvest Malletus<p><a href="https://tiggi.es/tags/POTA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>POTA</span></a> hunting went well this weekend!
