LOR.SH - IS SHUTTING DOWN SOON
As has already been stated in announcements, this will happen in a couple of months.
Because of this, I've noticed more than once that everyone is creating threads like "where do we go now."
Since I have a pretty decent outreach, I propose creating the ultimate "where do we go now" thread.
In it, I suggest:
Discussing what to do next and why there's no need to panic Where you can register a new account How you can "migrate" to a new account Discussing hosting your own personal server If possible, bringing up any questions not yet addressed in this thread that may be bothering you
I also suggest using the hashtag #LorshMigration for anyone who wants to talk about this now or find each other after the server shuts down, in case something goes wrong. I'm already following it and posting under it with my thoughts on the move or sharing useful info.
If you'd like, you can participate in a subthread for a "census" of people who've moved, stating where you moved from and where to.
Please remember that this thread is not communication with support staff, but just a chat with people who decided to help out on their own initiative.

To me it appears to be fully #AIgenerated news #content and a mastodon #server with 75 accounts dedicated to distributing links to the content with country and topic specific #hashtags.
So far, so normal in 2025, I guess. But I'm a bit distrustful of content creators that do not provide any information whatsoever about what kind of organisation or individuals are behind it, escpecially for news or political content.

I am once again asking for your recommendations for a #mastodon #instance to jump ship towards. Taking a break from #bluesky has highlighted the issues I had when this was my only form of social media.
Now that my local feed has more bots than my federated feed, I think it's time. Also, someone else's instance has apparently flagged mine, so it caused a warning every time they interacted with me.

Well, just a few hours after I posted the above, queer.party once again went down for what seemed an entire day. I think it's time to move. I have a backup account on famichiki.jp, but I am looking for #recommendations for a reliable and truly inclusive (anti-racist) #instance.

I have just implemented an instance ban on social.freysa.ai instance. From what I can tell it's almost entirely AI-generated accounts and posts. I have zero interest in having such content polluting my instance timelines.
Upgraded the PeerTube instance at https://videos.abnormalbeings.space to #PeerTube 7.1.
Feels and looks great, and I think I managed to break nothing along the way. I especially love the new feature to easily browse content from a specific, federated #instance
