Blank FrankBACK HOME<br> An update. The guitar I referenced the other day that was in for repairs is back. Thankfully there wasn't much to be done (the neck had become bowed over time and the truss rod needed sorting), but the person worked on it at <a href="https://gram.social/discover/tags/FernsGuitars?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#FernsGuitars</a> set it up so it plays like a dream, better than it ever did. Dan Fairs<p>Worth mentioning that I have made sure I put the same string gauge on as Fender do from the factory (10s). <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/fender" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fender</span></a> <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/jazzmaster" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>jazzmaster</span></a> <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/guitar" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>guitar</span></a></p>
Dan Fairs<p>Just to be clear, I’m not complaining considering this guitar effectively cost me about £2 in tickets! I’m just curious. <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/fender" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fender</span></a> <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/jazzmaster" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>jazzmaster</span></a></p>
Dan Fairs<p>A few weeks ago I won a (used) Jim Root signature <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/fender" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fender</span></a> <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/jazzmaster" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>jazzmaster</span></a>. Lucky me! I have only just had the time to give it a bit of a setup. </p><p>I think I’d be a bit annoyed if I’d bought this instrument from new (£1600 from Fender). </p><p>* There’s a clear mark on the fretboard at the 10th &amp; 11th frets where it looks like the fret was to be cut (in the wrong place)<br>* I think the nut is cut too low on the high E string leading to first fret buzz on the open string <br>* Fretwork is mediocre quality - similar to my RG550, but way below my other Ibanez guitars and even my Charvel. </p><p>Fender players - is this normal QC for Fender? I’ve never had a Fender guitars before.</p>

Blank FrankMACHINE<br> Something unusual today. Not really a "creative" effort on the photo front, but I wanted to share it anyways. <br> <br> I adore form &amp; function when it's done well. The Fender Jazzmaster guitar, introduced in 1958, is a beautiful example of that. I'm not a guitar gear nut, but I am a guitarist and a lover of design, particularly of the years on and around my birth year, 1962. The space age shape of the body and pickguard, the curved vibrato arm (which is a delight to use), the "extra" rhythm circuit switches and, of course, the famous pickups (not really my thing to be honest, but the ones in mine - a Classic Player Special from 2008 - are of the non-traditional variety, more like P90s). <br> <br> I can well imagine that most folk will be like "yeah, whatevs" when they see my Jazzmaster photo. It's not much of an interesting shot or subject to most. I get that. But I love this thing/object/machine. It literally makes me happy every time I pick it up to play. 🖤<br> <br> <a href="https://gram.social/discover/tags/FenderJazzmaster?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#FenderJazzmaster</a> <a href="https://gram.social/discover/tags/Jazzmaster?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Jazzmaster</a> <a href="https://gram.social/discover/tags/Guitars?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Guitars</a>

John Autry<p>Born this day in 1909 Leo Fender. Founder of Fender Musical Instruments. In 1950 the company released the Esquire, a thin body, fast neck electric that wouldn't feedback when played at volume of dance halls. Adding a second pick-up in '51 we had the Broadcaster which became the Telecaster. Still one of the most popular electric guitars for any genre.</p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/LeoFender" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LeoFender</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Fender" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fender</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Esquire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Esquire</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Telecaster" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Telecaster</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Stratocaster" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Stratocaster</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Jazzmaster" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Jazzmaster</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/PrecisionBass" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PrecisionBass</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/PrincetonReverb" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PrincetonReverb</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/FenderChamp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FenderChamp</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Tweed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Tweed</span></a></p>

xenogon<p>4/n The <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/guitar" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>guitar</span></a> in the pictures above is a Squier thinline 70s style that came with <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/Widerange" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Widerange</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/humbuckers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>humbuckers</span></a>. I won't go into the WR pickups now except to say that those fitted on squiers and reissue fenders are not true WR pickups, and they sound like a rather boring and generic chinese humbucker, which is what they are under the unusual cover.</p><p>The WR pickups are larger than a standard humbucker - in fact they are the largest guitar pickup I am aware of.</p><p>This presents an opportunity in that it gives me more space for my own design if I make one to fit a WR space.</p><p>So here's my design adapted to fit in a WR space. I have made the bobbins wider and a little shallower which will tend to warm the pingy <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/fender" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fender</span></a> tone a little. I have also used the extra space to accomodate using the thicker 0.071mm wire on both bridge and neck pickups as this lowers the resistance, and I assume also the output impedance and capacitance. My neck pickup in the posts above above wound with the thicker wire sounds good so I thought I'd use it for these as well.</p><p>I made the mounting frame so that it fills the gaps to avoid losing plectrums or other objects in the hole.</p><p>This pickup has not been tried yet. I have made a bridge and neck set.</p><p>I am using alnico 2 magnets for the neck and alnico 4 for the bridge as a warmer alternative to the typical alnico 5 magnets used on fender pickups.</p><p>I expect the tone is somewhere between that of a <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/stratocaster" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>stratocaster</span></a> and a <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/jazzmaster" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>jazzmaster</span></a>.</p>
Riley 🏳️‍⚧️<p>Up next is the guitar of mine that is probably my favorite, but don't tell the others: REY (of the <a href="https://donphan.social/tags/StarWars" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StarWars</span></a> Sequel trilogy fame; she was named in December of 2015 so you do the math).</p><p>Rey is a Squier Vintage Modified <a href="https://donphan.social/tags/Jazzmaster" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Jazzmaster</span></a> and is the guitar that really began my love affair with <a href="https://donphan.social/tags/Fender" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fender</span></a> offsets. I replaced the stock pickups with a Fender Pure Vintage '65 set and honestly it might be one of the best decisions I've ever made. This guitar does all the alt rock/indie punk stuff I could ever ask for as well as basically everything else I can throw at it. This was another impulse layaway purchase, but I don't regret a single thing. It does make me feel a bit tiny to play, but that's not always a bad thing :3 The body is just so massive compared to my other guitars, and the Fender scale length doesn't do it any favors in that department. I've thought about other upgrades, but I've always decided against them because Rey is perfect the way she is &lt;3</p>
