Have any #lasercutter / #lasercutting enthusiasts out there played with printer toner as a colorant for metal, acrylic or wood designs?

I've seen lots of videos of people using powder coating, heated selectively with their laser, to melt and bond it to the workpiece. But that stuff is fairly pricey and not something a non-metalworker is likely to have sitting around.

I was thinking that laser printer toner might work, perhaps at a lower temperature? It's cheap as chips inside old carts.

I made a #LaserCut display board for my step daughter who is doing a #crochet stall at our local #vegan #fair next week. She makes these lovely little key charms and needed something to display them on. It was a good test of my newly extended #LaserCutter as this item is larger than I could previously cut, at 400x496mm.

Könnt Ihr #lasercutter für zu Hause empfehlen. Wichtigste Kriterien wären für mich:
- Machen gut was sie sollen
- Gehen nicht gleich kaputt
- Lassen sich gut verstauen, wenn sie gerade nicht gebraucht werden

Ich würde mich sehr über Eure Tipps freuen.

(Bitte nur echte Emphlungen, Web-Suche habe ich schon selber gemacht.)

I've got my new #LaserCutter expansion kit fitted and the #cnc functions tested. Need to check the manual for the k40 laser head as I had to put in a replacement cable for that and I'm now using the screw terminals on the driver board rather than the plug, and it's not powering on now. That's for tomorrow or Monday...

Tonight I'm doing a literal #SmokeTest on my new #LaserCutter enclosure that I've been building over the last couple of weeks. It uses a cooker hood extractor fan instead of the piddly little bathroom extractor I had before, and the results are pretty impressive. Even on the minimum setting it seems to cope with birch ply smoke admirably. This is all in aid of the expansion kit I recently got for the laser cutter, which will increase it from 400x400mm to about 930x930mm, which obviously wouldn't have fitted in the original enclosure - or on the bench for that matter. I've tried to use as much recycled and upcycled materials as possible, but I did buy new 5mm ply for the hood, some wood for the frame, and a sheet of flooring chip board, and double sided tape and draught excluder tape. The rest was made from the old bench, an old pallet (most of the hood frame), a reclaimed aluminium shop sign for the bed, and materials I already had on hand.

Hat jemand Empfehlungen für einen preiswerten und zuverlässigen #Laser-Schneider für die Schule. Bei der Schnittfläche reicht mir was in der Größenordnung von 400x400mm^2 und schneiden will ich vor allem Sperrholz und MDF (vielleicht bis 10 oder 12mm) und transparentes Acryl wär gut, Metall muss nicht sein.

Aktuell ein cooler live demo workshop, wie man Titanium farb laser graviert (bei verschiedenen Temperaturen oxidiert).

Verwendet wird ein IR-Diode laser.

Nebenbei druckt ein 3D Drucker einen Hinweis auf die #realraum Party nächsten Samstag 24.5. mit Musik ab 19h

My 3 year old wanted to know how looms work, so I made him a small one and showed him how to weave. He enjoyed it but now I have a problem. I'm addicted to it.
