The color banding in Bazzite is starting to annoy me.
Running an AMD RX 9070XT through a Hisense U7K TV. So, I have to connect over HDMI.
I get 4K 120Hz HDR Freesync VRR and all that. But it's restricted to 8-bit YUV420 color. I guess this is all because the HDMI Forum was a big bag of dicks about licensing HDMI for open source drivers.
Apparently there's a Cable Matters DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter that might enable full color. (Question mark?)
That's my next rabbit hole to ponder, I guess...
Ich glaube ich lege mich fest:
#CachyOS ist für mich inzwischen mit #Hyprland zum Arbeiten und Gnome zum zocken, die Distro die mir mit Abstand am meisten Freude bereitet.
Es gibt seit Wochen kein einziges, wirklich ernstes Problem, was mich dazu bringen könnte über einen erneuten Wechsel nachzudenken.
Das hatte ich schon sehr lange nicht. 
So macht zocken unter Linux echt Spaß und arbeiten geht flott von der Hand, weil die Community da wirklich gute Ideen hatte die in die Distro mit eingeflossen sind.
Auch das Prinzip, nicht sofort jedes Update frei zu geben, sondern erst auf eine Art Qualitätscheck zu setzen: prima Ergänzung, auch für Neulinge würde ich sagen.

I've been thinking about playing Unreal Tournament (1999) lately. I've been on a little bit of a old-school shooter kick lately. I owned it on CD-Rom back in the day, but apparently at some point in the past 20 years I also got the Game of the Year edition on Steam.
So, to my surprise, in December 2022 Epic Games delisted the entire Unreal Tournament series from digital storefronts. You can still install it if you own it on Steam, however you can no longer purchase it https://store.steampowered.com/app/13240/Unreal_Tournament_Game_of_the_Year_Edition/. I don't understand why they would want to remove art (yes, videogames are art, I will die on this hill) from society, so fuck them.
Anyways, the UT community has made sure the games are still playable. There are unofficial patches to make it more playable on modern systems.
The route I took was install via Steam and install the Windows patch from https://github.com/OldUnreal/UnrealTournamentPatches and play with GE-Proton 10-9.
It plays great on Debian 13 (Trixie)!

Some thoughts on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 now that I've finished all of the standard goals and picked up all stat points & secret items.
The levels for THPS3 are completely faithful to the original game and are an absolute blast to play through right up until cruise ship. They could have released these levels as an expansion for THPS 1+2 with some new skaters and it would be just as good.

Linux es un sistema muy configurable. Mediante variables de entorno y parámetros podemos ajustar la CPU, optimizar a nuestro gusto la GPU, o personalizar las opciones expuestas por nuestro kernel.
Como no siempre es sencillo conocer y saber de todos estos parámetros, nos ha parecido interesante la aplicación volt-gui, que permite desde una interfaz gráfica gestionar todas estas opciones.
Seit dem #Nvidia 575 Treiber funktioniert offenbar #Vulkan unter #Linux nicht mehr richtig. DOOM (2016) erkennt zum Beispiel unter der Vulkan API bei mir nur noch die Intel Graphics iGPU.
Ich wünschte wirklich, dass #AMD leistungsstärkere GPUs für Laptops herausbringen würde. Nicht, dass Radeon 700M oder 800M schlecht wären, aber sie sind halt keine Nvidia RTX 4000 / 5000 Max-Q.
