I just received my facsimile copy of the Royal Armouries MS I.33 from the British museum of arms and armour in Leeds. It is one of the oldest surviving manual on armed combat in the world, dating around the 1300s.

I.33 is also known as the Walpurgis manuscript, named after the illustrations in the treatise depicting a woman named Walpurgis demonstrating the written techniques against a priest. I plan on using this book to study and train on the use of sword & buckler.

I also committed sacrilege by putting on my book some cute I.33 stickers I got from Purpleheart Armoury when I visited them in Houston, TX :blobcat_googly_knight:

The Codex Gigas, also known as the Devil's Bible, is the largest medieval manuscript in the world written in the 13th century. It was created at the Benedictine monastery of Podlažice in Bohemia, today a region of the present-day Czech Republic.

Weighing 74.8 kg or 165 lbs, the Codex Gigas is composed of 310 sheets of parchment claimed to be made from the hides of 160 donkeys or calves. The manuscript includes illuminations in red, blue, yellow, green, and gold.

The book appears to be simultaneously a Bible, a grimoire, a historical text, and a guide to healing.
