Given that the biggest obstacle to the adoption of microformats is the lack of programs that actually implement them, I have been toying with the idea of writing some useful programs that work with all the information we put onto our websites.

It's frustrating that we're at a point where the bottleneck of the Semantic Web ideal is not actually a low amount of structured information, but the lack of any program to do anything interesting whatsoever with it!

Who cares if we all use the HTML5 tag on our sites, if there is no browser that actually provides a "contact webmaster" button in the sidebar?

Who cares if we all mark up our cooking recipes as perfectly detailed machine readable h-recipe entries, if there is zero cooking apps or whatever actually capable of using any of the data we provide?

Who cares if we all use h-cards and h-feeds and whatnot if there is no feed reader that can actually notify us when our friends posted a new blog entry?

Ha! I’m again able to have *my silly website* “boost” “Fediverse posts.”

I mark these up using #microformats2 – which after parsing look like this: pin13.net/mf2/?url=https%3A%2F – and have my “ActivityPub sender” pick that up, so that instead of a “Create” activity, it POSTs an “Announce.”

I’d previously implemented this as an addon for #WordPress#ActivityPub plugin and now have it working for my #Laravel site, too.

@jason If you go the #IndieWeb route and use a #WordPress theme with #microformats2, brid.gy by @snarfed.org and others can either syndicate (#POSSE) your posts to a #Mastodon account, or you can use fed.brid.gy and make your site into a direct #fediverse server and account that people can follow.

The #ActivityPub plugin by @pfefferle does the latter too and I think it can support multiple accounts per WordPress site.

Ok, so I think I found a #masonry #layout #template that will suit my wants. I will probably need to do some modifications to implement #microdata / #microformats ( #microformats2 ) (maybe #RDFa lite too?).

Now another big #question would be, should I use the Open #Dyslexic #typeface? #webdev #design #ux #ui #uiux opendyslexic.org/

opendyslexic.orgOpenDyslexicOpenDyslexic is a typeface designed against some common symptoms of dyslexia.

🔖 Bridgy Fed

»Bridgy Fed turns your web site into its own #fediverse account, visible in #Mastodon and beyond. You can post, reply, like, repost, and follow […] by posting on your site with #microformats2 and sending #webmentions. Bridgy Fed translates those posts to fediverse protocols like #ActivityPub and OStatus, and sends fediverse interactions back to your site as webmentions.«

»[It] takes some technical know-how to set up« — true, but still: Wow 😮 & nice 👍
