"The Missing Moccasin" is a little something I created freehand from life ... er ... from a shoe, that is. I hand-painted it in #CorelPainter while sitting in front of the fireplace and gazing at my husband's slipper one cold wintery night up at the cabin. I wrote a silly little thing to go along with it in the description section of my website.

These moccasins have been well loved. Before throwing them out, I'm taking the beads and a strip of leather that has no glue or other elements affecting it. I didn't think I'd get to start this until tonight but a power outage blessed me with a few hours of tech-free time. Now to learn how to clean/maintain suede so I can prep the piece I take for its next life.
Making shoes! Got the leather cut out for these mid-calf soft elk leather boots. Based on a Alemmanic/Frankish/Anglo Saxon/Viking center seam design. They'll be pretty much like moccasins with a soft ground, tire rubber sole when I get done. Always try your shoe designs out in felt or blanket wool to test fit! You'll have slippers and a test pattern. These shoes are made of one piece of leather that wraps around the foot and has a center seam.
First, let me say I am not Indigenous. But, I’m packing my most precious possessions and these baby moccasins are beloved. Nearly 60 years ago a woman in my parents’ church made them for my mother who was anxiously waiting for me. Both of my kids also wore them.
I finally finished the beadwork for these totoro inspired moccasins!
