Debian 13 “trixie” release brings RISC-V support plus to the popular GNU/Linux distro, plus thousands of other updates

Debian is a free and open source, Linux-based operating system that’s bee around for more than three decades. And computers have changed a lot in that time. So while Debian has a reputation for releasing updates on a slow, steady, and stable basis rather than pushing bleeding edge features, the operating system has made some major changes over the years.

This weekend the Debian team […]

MakeUseOf: These Windows Accessibility Shortcuts Unlock New Options for Everyone. “When you think of accessibility settings, you might assume they’re only meant for specific needs, but that’s far from the truth. Windows offers several useful accessibility options that are ideal for customizing your PC’s appearance, improving comfort, and even operating everything completely hands-free.”

Another thing which never made sense to me in #Linux. Is that there are two different programs to add a new user. And they got confusing names too. I was hoping things are better on #Alpine. But nope.

There is useradd and adduser. First, I think there shouldn't be two different programs to do the same thing. Second, even if there are two, they should have names which one can easily guess which one is for what.

I remember one was higher level and the other was lower level. If there should really be two programs, I think the lower level one should be something like adduser-lowlevel or __adduser. So one can easily guess it isn't going to be used for most use cases.

I wonder how much Alpine people are open to such these changes. Linux is the only operating system which I've used extensively. So I don't know about other OSes and if they do better or worse.

Oh and there are addgroup and groupadd too.

Tom’s Hardware: I took a look at AnduinOS, a Linux distro that feels like home for Windows users. “Overall, AnduinOS is great. It works, and there is no confusion for those of us moving from Windows. We can get the apps that we know and love (ok, maybe not all the apps) and get to work without being nagged by Windows to read another advert.”
